When your partner goes out of town, do you eat food that they don't like?

I'm pretty lucky that my husband is a food lover. There isn't much that he doesn't eat and even if its something he doesn't like, he will try it again. He is going out of town for a week and I'm going to go 100% vegan (really the only non-vegan food I eat is cheese...hard to give up!)...maybe even do a raw diet. Our 2 year old will be home with me and she will do fine. She rarely asks for meat to eat (she is the type of kid that goes in the kitchen and looks for fruit first) and if she does, I'll make something for her. I'm petty excited. I've started looking up different recipes to try out so that I can experiment and have some new dishes to prepare for when he gets back. I'm also going to try some new juices and maybe even use his food dehydrator for some different treats

this is interesting sedel027! now that we both work at home, mr. psychoartist and i are rarely apart...the only thing we don't both like is pizza, so probably if mr. psychoartist were ever to be out of town i would order pizza or make a homemade pizza and invite the princess to help me devour it!

My husband is usually home. This is the first time in years he is gone more than just an overnight. Since he enlisted a few years ago I swear he is home more than when he had no job.

My hubby is the junk food eater and he basically loves all kinds of food except my health food. I started eating more tofu, soy meat, egg whites and stuff like that. The last year I have been use to cooking meals for me and seperate meals for him cause he hates tofu and egg plant and most of the other meals I eat. Grocery shopping must look bad to the checkout person lots of fruits, veggies nad healthy food then the rest junk food, pizzas, and candy lol

That would drive me nuts! We always cook one meal, you either eat or you don't. If you don't, you cook your own meal and clean it up. Usually when DH wants meat, we will just go out to eat or find a meal - like spaghetti and meat sauce for example - that I can set my portion aside before adding meat to it.

I don't remember having problem with the kind of food my girlfriend likes and she to mine. She actually picked the habit of eating from me and blames me for gaining weight while I stayed thin. Ladies, really.
Anyway, sounds like you are really into this. I hope you have fun and stay healthy!

I favor vegetables but can't really be a 100 percent vegan. For one I love cheese (like you do) so that even if I order vegetarian pizza I can't enjoy it without cheese. But in most cases I enjoy just fruits and vegetables. I am not fond of meat. It makes me feel so heavy when I eat meat and I hate that feeling.

Well, I've never had a partner that doesn't eat what I like to eat. But I have seen a few cases like this from the people that are close to me. Usually... The food is durian. Alot of people do not enjoy eating durian because they think they stink and smells exactly like rubbish. But some of them may have partners that love them. Most of the time i see that they respect each others opinion and would usually allow their partner to eat it whenever they want..just not too near to them hahahah

My husband is never out of town. I don't mind buying treats he doesn't like but I do have to make a main meal that he does like or can stomach. Not that I'm a bad cook there's things he can't handle like canned tomato's, sauce doesn't bother him but the tomatoes do you know how many home made soups / sauces have canned tomatoes. I do have other things he's not a fan of around but sometimes he likes something I thought he didn't and I'll find him eating eat.

When I was married and while my ex-husband was working strange shifts, I'd be home alone for a while and pig-out on cheese, which he hated, even the sight of it.

Well, the eating of food is a pleasure. Everybody has his favorite. Of course I understand perfectly well that until you're alone in the kitchen we have the embarrassment of choice and we can eat almost anything we want.
But since we have a partner, or live with other people (in my case, my dear parents and my brother), I is not easy to please everyone's tastes.
At least in my family works in this manner.
