I personally have both read books, as well I have listened to audiobooks. Now some people say that they believe that audiobooks are better. Me personally I am not so sure about that. I mean yeah audiobooks take less time to get through than actually reading a book. Although I like actually reading a book better than listening to an audiobook. When I read a book my imagination takes me more into the book. Actually reading a book improves reading skills. When it comes to an audiobook all there is, is just listening too someone reading the book out loud. What is the fun in that?

I'm almost always reading 1-2 books and listening to an audio book at the same time (not simultaneously obviously! I'm not that good!).
I still get lost in the story when listening to a book on audio. I usually listen to pass the time on a long drive or while cleaning/doing yard work. But there are times when I prefer to listen to a particular book rather than read. Like if the book might be a "difficult read". I've read several memoirs from Chinese women and after reading one paperback I switched to audio books for that genre. There were too many unfamiliar words and sound that I kept stumbling over and I felt that I lost some of the story because of my struggle. After listening to several audio books based around Chinese culture, I've learned the meanings and correct pronunciation of those same words and could probably easily read them if I picked up a hard copy again.

I don't listen to audiobooks unless it's necessary. If i'm too busy but my ears are free and if I'm going gaga over wanting to read something which I can't, then I listen to the audiobook.
Reading is still what I prefer. Books last longer than audiobooks. They could stand dust for a long time and still you can pass them on.you can keep them for centuries and you won't worry about viruses and corrupt files!
I prefer the conventional way..
