i just hate whenm people quit without giving their two weeks. For one it is extreamly irrisponsibel and very unprofessional. For two it effects everybody in the work place they all have to help pick up the slack i work in a nursing home so it is even worse becuse legally we have to have so many people so when people just walk out it mess's everything up. It is just so aggravatin. A third reason is you lose all your PTO time wich is just financially irrisponsible.

i understand how that can be so aggravating, picking up the slack because there arent enough employees. though there is an employer in my town who has gotten the nasty reputation for firing you the day you give 2 weeks notice! so say here take your last check and just go. so someone i know is not giving 2 weeks notice so he doesnt lose his pay. this doesnt happen everywhere though so people should give 2 weeks, this boss is very harsh. but by kicking them out before two weeks shes forcing this frustration of not enough bodies on herself and her other employees which isnt fair to them.

i honestly did not know that some places do that. that is really wrong for the person to give a 2 week notice and then get fired. specially when they tell the other job offer they can start in 2 weeks and then they are jobless for that 2 weeks. you never know how badly they needed the money.

I agree everyone should be respectful and give 2 weeks notice. The only way I can see this happening is in retail and a teen is working there and for some reason their parents tell them to quit because of grades or something like that. Most parents in that situation would not care about the 2 weeks notice because they are angry. But in a nursing home I highly doubt this is the case. I was just talking about in retail jobs. I know when I was in school if we got under a "B" we had to stop everything we loved without any notice that day because my parents got so angry! Other than that situation two weeks notice should always be given! It is respectful for everyone involved...

Yes that is annoying, however some companies do not specific in their regulations that 2 weeks is required when quitting. I also find it annoying that a company can fire you at will (leaving the same issues) without 2 weeks notice. Seems irresponsible on both ends.

On the other hand, I hate it when employers tell employees who give two weeks' notice that they don't need to come back to work. I wish I had a nickel for every time I've seen this happen. That's irresponsible, too.

I experienced that same thing when I was working in a nursing home, and when people just leave it creates a lot of problems for other the employees. We had to do the work that the other people were supposed to do. We were already really busy and it was hard to do even more work, but we didn't have a choice. In the summer holidays the problem was especially bad. I lot of people got summer jobs while the other employees were going on vacation and some of those people simply quit if they didn't like the work. Some of them didn't even say that they wanted to quit, they simply stayed away from work I think that is a really irresponsible thing to do. One woman got a summer job and never even showed up once. We tried to call her, but she didn't answer the phone.

giving your emplyoer your 2 weeks notice is the ethical and right thing to do. that way it gives them time to find a replacement and usually that will give you time to train the new person who will be taking your place. there are a lot of people out there that do not care they will walk out when they feel like they are ready to and that not only looks bad on them but when you have to put down refrences for another job i am sure that the manager will have a few choice words on how that person left them hanging. it could potentionally ruin other opportunites for them. someone doing that in a nursing home is actually just plain mean because i can understand you having to have a certain number of people and not only that it takes a lot to take care of an elderly person adn at a nursing home each emplyee has their hands full and to add more patients to their list because of another irresponsible employee is just wrong to the patient and the employees.

I hate when people quit and don't give their 2 weeks notice. We had a girl quit the night before christmas eve she sent my boss a text message saying she quits when she was schedule to be at work at 7am the next morning so of course we all had to change are work hours to have her hours covered it was annoying. I hate people like that. And we just lost another girl as well but atleast she was decent enough to give us a months notice. Whenever i quit somewhere i always give in my 2 weeks notice it looks bad if you don't.
