Do you think it is wise to quit your job to startup your business and be your own boss? As for me, If you'll do that, ensure that you are willing to take the risk. Because it's a make or break situation. And I think it is much fulfilling to be an entrepreneur that engage your lifetime of full time employment.

I would rather advise to continue working and start a small business in your spare time, or take out some time out of your busy schedule to start a small business. As time goes your small business will flourish and you will no longer require the job. So you can discontinue the job and concentrate on your business and be your own boss. The reason why I say not to leave your job is because you will have a monthly expense, and if you leave your job without having a proper running business, then you would risk the normally running expenses of your family. We are not quite sure how much and how fast a business will progress. So you would not want that to affect your family. All the best.

Yes, I think that's the wises way of starting a business. Rather than just carelessly quitting your job. Your job is the primary source of your capital on your business. So do moonlighting first, the ideal way of starting a business while holding a 9 to 5 job is to find a business that will earn you money even when you aren't physically present. This is called passive income, have some consignment deal with people that will sell your product, start up a space for rent or create a blog that will make you money if you have already gained abundant amount of readers that are consistently following you.

many have done this and quite a lot of them have been successful, like many business you do need hundred percent of your time to it, right? Well If you ask me though i would still not resign until my business is 100% independent, or is sure to fly. i would not want to be without a job or a business in case the business is not doing so well.

If I was sure that it was what I wanted to do, yes, I would quit. The thing is that with the economy being so crazy, even a good idea might have a rougher start than any time before. I would personally try to keep the set income that I had until I got on my feet with my business. It would be really tough but it would be playing it safe.

Hi Yansky. I am currently employed and at the same time, i had put up my shop. I am quite afraid to be on my own as i may not be financially capable to hold it up. I would give this biz 3 years to grow and if it seems profitable, i would most likely give up my beloved job and take the risk of entrepreneurship.

If I were you, I would make sure that I have enough savings personally to live by for 1 year before starting a business, if not I would still remain at my current job and start the business because starting a business would mean you have to lose before you earn and you would want to make sure you can still be able to pay the electric bills while that happens. If you like bein your own boss and has good management skills, by all means, start a business!

I gave up my job recently and I also planning to start a business. The hard part is that I can't make up my mind on what business to put in. I have a lot of ideas but there is always "what if?" question in my mind.
