Today it seems that the paper cups are much more common to be used in some families. They will offer you a paper cup of tea when you visit them as a guest. Actually I don't like that. I prefer to use the normal cup since it is much more environmental and it seems that the relationship will be closer. I think the paper cups shall be used in the public places like banks, hospitals and so on.

I agree, I do not like disposable paper or styrofoam cups for home use. Except if you are having a large, casual holiday. For visiting with guests I would offer a cup and saucer or a mug to share tea with.

I think disposable cups should only be used in situation where it is not always convenient to do dish washing or to re-use the cups. Public places, as you mentioned, are good examples. At homes, some people prefer to use them when they are having a party for convenience. The guests can just throw them away after use, so the host does not have to deal with cleaning and washing them. It does feel impersonal, though, when having only a few guests at home and they are being served using paper cups.

Hi friend, in our place, we will use the paper cup only in the functions and parties, we will use the normal cup for our friends and visitors. Most of the people don't like to take drinks in the paper cup in normal days, if it is a party or a function, it is unavoidable

I still have not encountered this..People are gone crazy..paper cups to give your visitor makes it very odd..its like there is no humanity left.. i bet they will give food and water to their animal pets..then y paper cups for relatives, family and friends or a human being..yeah if its a party or function..that's another story but, for everyday use..its insane.

Paper cups seem to be common everywhere. I am not comfortable using a paper cup...too flimsy for my taste. I've never had anyone serve my tea in a paper cup...except at railway stations or public places. But definitely not in the home.Very few times, I've had people serve me soft drinks in a paper cup when I am visiting them. There too, I would have preferred a normal cup/glass.

hi youless,
i would rather use paper cups in places not my home, like in the car, in the beach.. outdoors.
but at home, one should use the normal utensils, cups and saucers, plates and glasses, etc.
have a nice day.

Yeah it's popularly used especially in parties, like children's party and other family gatherings. Since there are many guests in parties like this, the host/hostess usually prefers paper (disposable) cups rather than glassware. It's more convenient to use if there are many guest because there's no need to wash it. But for family and everyday use I don't think I will.

Yes, I agree with you. For family member's and few important guests I prefer glassware. Besides, it's more presentable most especially in social gatherings.

yes, besides those mentioned, I think quality and of food or drinks is also affected by the container or cook ware you use in preparing or serving them. I also agree that closeness seems to be affected, we never serve it that way at home especially to elder members of the family or clan, yes only in public places and at times during outings.

You are right, we should use paper cups at public areas but at home, we can use ceramic/glasses cups. I have some cups at home even though i live alone, however i love one cup that is gave as a gift from my dormitory in Korea..i use it every day and for sure i will bring it whenever i move..

Oh, is it like that?? Here, at my place, nobody will use paper cups for guests.. it is equal to insulting them. I too agree with the fact, for everyday use, using paper cups. is not environmental friendly... isn't it good to simply wash the cups and it will keep clean.

When we have guests we use glasses or china cups. WE even dont have paper cups available home. I agree with you that the paper cups are not environmental. Whats worse, i think it will do harm to your health drinking with paper cups because the material might release something bad when meeting with very hot water.

hi youless I am with y ou on that as it seems odd to be given
good tea not in a tea cup and saucer but in a paper cup as if
you are in an outdoors stall thing of some sort. to me is sort
of insulting as though I were not good enough to bring out the
good china just for you.

Hello youless
Normally, I also do not like the paper cup. But if I was offered the paper cup in someone's home, I would feel honored to receive anything, so I would not mind, although I might think it a bit strange.
One thing I do like about the paper cup is that it makes me to feel very strong because I will crush it dramatically in my hand after I make the drink disappear in my body.
Peace
