Rude, Obnoxious, and Inappropriate People

Have most people went crazy and forgotten how to act when they are around others?
From my experience, there have been a lot of rude, obnoxious, arrogant people who act inappropriate these past several years. There is a lot more road rage now. People will get upset about not you not letting them in your lane. People will get upset when they become impatient about having to wait on food or such for about five minutes time. People will get nasty with you when you try to help them with their accidents. People don't even listen to what the other person has to say...and has heard them incorrectly and will suddenly get nasty with them--which leads to them not actually LISTENING to the other person.
Maybe I am overreacting or maybe it's where I come from...but I grew up in a small rural town where even though you hated folks, you still was cordial to them. Is it just me or individuals becoming more rude and obnoxious over time?

No WumpyPPancakes... you are not over reacting. You are right on target. People are that way these days and it is irritating and annoying. I dont know why it is. Oh, I can mention a few things, but the point is..you are right. People are not gracious, not helpful in addition to the things you mention. But I think part of that is...look what everyone watches on TV and on video games and movies. When was the last time you saw any cordialness there? And no one has to take responsibility for anything anymore so there is no need for manners.
I hate driving with my husband..why? Cause he points out EVERY THING that the other drivers do wrong! Pulls in front of him, didn't do a single, crossed over in front of another car, this and that....constantly! He drives fine, but it drinks me to drink to hear all the craziness that is going on just on the streets! Literally every car does something wrong, rude, inconsiderate etc. ANd he points it out!
People in stores...no one (but me) gives way in an isle...they all hog the entire isle and don't move to one side. I was on crutches once and was looking at stuff on the shelves in a store trying to find what I wanted and someone with a cart asked me to move over so she could get past me! And there I am on crutches and I am supposed to move for her cart!
But what are we to do about it... I don't know. I always like to be really nice to someone and hope it ruins their day thinking how nice I was to them while they know they were being rude or obnoxious to me!

Coffeebreak:
People driving has become ridiculous. You have so many people acting like clowns on the road. They expect you to move over for them; they will even force their way in...and want throw up a hand signal to thank you. There is a way that I go home, and there is road that you have to merge to the left...and some of these people will cut in front of you and not give a thank you wave or nod to you. It used to irritate me something terrible, but now, I am used to it sadly. I am like this is how they are going to act, and it is really nothing to do about it except not to get upset about it because it's not worth it.
I hate going shopping. I don't even shop at Wal-Mart anymore because it is so overcrowded. People will hang out in the isles and talk. People will put their carts in the middle of the isle while you are trying to look for something, too. People are taking up the isles while pushing their carts and want share space. I am like...thanks for making my shopping experienced difficult than it already is!
Also, I am nice to obnoxious people as well. I don't see the point in you getting angry with them. I think that some of them want to get a rise out of you. I am too old for it. I need to reserve my energy for other important tasks!

I know what you mean. I don't Walmart anymore either. They are putting in a new Mega Walmart near me..might check it out, but still Target is much nicer. But the cashiers at Walmart are either the dumbest hireable or just obnoxious and rude. They dont' even know how to scan a coupon, or count change...even after the register tells them how much to count out! They hardly speak and even then it is in a rude manner and they expect me to bag my own stuff! I refuse to do that. If they want to give me a discount, fine, I'll do it, but other than that.. I refuse to do their job for them. And they hate that.
I don't really get upset about it, just annoyed and I will tell them whats on my mind if they push me. I often give a smart-elec comment back to them.. and they look at me with such shock like " wait.. I was supposed to have the last word"! So it can be fun!
