Tonight I have decided to whip up a batch of homemade spaghetti sauce and make some yummy spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. We are kind of broke until payday, who isn't these days? Anyways, I bought a big pack of ground beef yesterday at the grocery store and I'm going to make some of it into spaghetti and meatballs and the other part into chili and finally if there's anything left I will make up some enchiladas and tacos for dinner. But I think I will need to buy another pack of ground beef to do the enchiladas and tacos. Anyhow, I have some nice french bread to pop in the oven and some garlic butter to spread on it. Now off to make my delicious dinner! What are you having for dinner tonight? Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

That sounds so good!! You remind me of my friend's mother . . . she used to stretch out spaghetti sauce exactly like you - into chili, then maybe enchiladas or tacos. I make a big ol' pot of spaghetti sauce - and usually we just have many nights of spaghetti because the kids like it (and I don't mind, I put lots of meat and veggies in it). This morning we went grocery shopping - and I had in mind to make spaghetti later this week too. We had a sample at the store of meat lasagne - and although the kids liked it, I didn't want to pay a lot of money for a dinky square of frozen lasagne. So I decided to splurge for a block of mozzarella and ricotta - and I think I'll make lasagne with the last half of the sauce - stretch out that sauce for another couple night's worth of meals! Tonight's dinner we're actually going to order to go at a Persian restaurant - for my hubby's birthday dinner - hee hee!

I like making lasagna too. It is always cheaper and better tasting to make it yourself rather than buying the frozen ones. I usually make a huge pot of the spaghetti sauce but this time there really was not much left at all. I was kind of shocked but my family was really hungry tonight it seems. Lucky you, going out for dinner tonight. Persian food sounds really yummy too! Hope he had a great birthday. Thanks for your comment and have a great night!

Dinner tonight....I really have no idea. I was HOPING that after 3 hours at the park with her cousins my LO would take a nap and then we could headout to the store (I have a $10 coupon expiring today!), but no such luck. So I hoping if I feed her that after rush hour traffic passes that we will drive 20 minutes to the store and maybe hit Target too. I will either fix her pancakes or we will have left over vegan chili or maybe some curried tofu. She would probably be happier if I sliced up a half a cucumber, an orange and some berries and gave her that for dinner.

Oh, I did! I spent $12 for a weeks worth of groceries between that coupon, sales and a $3 off $10 produce coupon I had on my account. We ended up having corn, salad and veggie dogs for dinner lol thankfully she is easy to please.

I hope you were able to get to the store and use your $10.00 coupon tonight. I know how it is trying to get dinner together for the kids and try to find enough time to run errands too. Thanks for your comment and have a great night!

Yummy! Who's broke now? Haha. Anyway, it's morning here and I'm about to take a bath and prepare for work. Last night, we should have mami noodles as we called it here but we have some left over foods and that our neighbor sent us laing (taro cooked in coco milk). So my husband said, he'd just cook his homemade fishballs. Maybe we'll have mami tonight.

Lol that is so not broke but I know your point your making batches of cook food to save time and probably money not quite sure... I love spaghetti and sometimes i usually use other pastas like penne or fettuccine to be more fun and looks cute. I haven't made spaghetti meatballs for a long time now... too busy and were in a tight budget. For dinner still thinking of what to make enjoy your dinner!!!

That sounds so yummy! I hope it was as good as it sounds! I went to the baby shower of my soon-to-be granddaughter on Sunday and had made a lot of finger sandwiches and mini cheesecakes and, naturally, made too many so I had plenty left at home so we ate them last night. Tonight, I just made cold salads. I had bought everything to make spaghetti when I was shopping on Saturday but was too busy getting ready for the shower to cook it. So, maybe tomorrow now that you've got my spaghetti-craving juices flowing. I have some garlic bread in the freezer so I'll have that along with it. Yum!!!

The meals I make tend to be fairly inexpensive, too, and they are quite good. I make good use of our CSA share and turn those beautiful, fresh, organic veggies into healthy and delicious meals. This evening, it was tempeh and veggies in an orange juice and brown sugar glaze. I probably could have upped the sugar content a little, but I didn't want to overdo it with the sweetness. My boyfriend liked it, which is always important. Of course, he generally likes my cooking.

I could eat bread for dinner too, lol! Chicken and gravy with veggies sounds really good too! We had chili tonight and the kids had hot dogs. I went for a combination of the two - chili cheese dogs, and boy were they yummy!! Thanks for your comment and have a great night!

Right now our cupboard is pretty bare so we really don't have a lot to choose from. However, we do have to PF Changs dinners for two in the freezer and there are four people in the house right now so I think we are going to cook those up. I've never had them before, but they were given to us and I hate to let anything go to waste and also considering the fact that it is raining pretty hard right now, I really don't want to go to the grocery store.

How funny--I just bought 2 lbs. of ground beef too, to make all 3 of the same things you are making. All three meals are ones that my kids like, and they taste different enough that you can eat them back to back. A little high in cholesterol, though, so will have to have chicken or fish the rest of the week!

That sounds good! (All of it) I feasted on peanut butter sandwiches last night, so I probably should cook something today. I have some chicken pieces in the freezer so I'll probably make something with them but haven't decided what yet. Wish I had some french bread! My car is in the garage for repairs so I couldn't go to the store even if I had the money to...

I like peanut butter sandwiches too. But yes, you're right, I think you need to make something more substantial than peanut butter tonight. I find it so much easier to prepare chicken that is not frozen though. Thanks for your comment and have a great night!

I like to do batch cooking, like making all those things from ground beef. We ate chili cheese dogs, curly fries, and sliced tomatoes. I have a Marie Callendar apple crumb pie. Spaghetti and meatballs do not happen at my house as hubby does not like pasta of any sort.

We eat pasta all the time here in our house. Everyone here loves pasta. The chili I made tonight I am going to serve as chili and also as chili cheese dogs and hot dogs. So I now have tomorrow's dinner all set and half cooked as well. Thanks for your comment and have a great night!

i so know what you mean about being broke til payday. we spend lots of weeks like that sadly! it has finally cooled down enough here to also have pasta. i make our own hamburger helper meal which we are having for supper. it has pasta, spaghetti sauce with grated cheese. its quite good and we eat it a lot in the winter because it is a fairly cheap meal (and cheap meals are good!)

hi schulzie oh my hope we ar e having spaghetti and meat balls my favorite dish. I did not look at dinner menu so am not sure what we here at Gold C rest are having, lunch was sloppy joes with much too much sugary sweet barbeque sauce on them yuck for a diabetic this is not good at all. Sounds like you have some wonderful dishes planned there, my kind of good food wow.

Sounds good to me! I bought a 5-lb pkg of ground beef this morning too and it will also become spaghetti (but with meat sauce instead of meatballs) and chilli, and probably sloppy Joe's. I don't cook for myself, so will repackage and freeze it until my buddy comes over and cook it for both of us.

That's a great idea! I try to buy in bulk when I can, especially when it's a good deal. I have a family of 6 so it's pretty easy to use up everything at the first meal. I can go through a 5 pound package of ground beef in 2 - 3 days very easily. Thanks for your comment and have a great night!

You are right. Money is tight for most people. Tonight, since it's just me, I made a veggie omelet with cheese on top. Yum! I love breakfast for dinner. I make pasta a lot even if money is not tight. I make it with oil and garlic with a little sprinkle of grated cheese when money is tight and it is delicious - so delicious that my family asks for it even when we have money - lol

That sounds really good! When you make your oil and garlic pasta do you use fresh minced garlic or do you use garlic powder? I would love to make that one night. Thanks for your comment and have a great night!
