Do you ever trade in your old DVDs to get new ones?

I have discovered that after buying so many DVDs I don't ever watch some of them. I meant to watch them but when the time came and there was nothing good on TV, I did not pick several DVDs in my collection. After almost a year I decide to go through the collection and pull out those DVD's I have not seen and took them to the local Hastings Videos & Books to exchange them for credit. I got a few DVDs with my credit and now I think I will be watching these. Do you ever trade in your DVD's for credit? Or do you sell them or donate them?

Wow, Hastings does this? I know many movies I'd love to get rid of and wonder if my husband will agree...So how many DVD's did you return in order to get a new one?

I have taken to them lots of books and DVDs. But the credit you get may only range from 50 cents to $2.00 and for those they really want... more! If you have a lot of DVDs at home just sitting in the cabinet collecting dust, you may want to trade them in for something you WILL watch. :) Just recently I took to them 8 DVDs and got $10.55 store credit. Then I took advantage of the Buy 1 and pay only $1 for the next one. I scoured their shelves and found a DVD for only $3.99 and found another for the same price but only paid $1 because of their sale. So I ended up with two DVDs for $5 +tax. :)

Oh, I wish there's an option like that here in our place. I, too, have a lot of DVDs in the shelf collecting dust. And, there's only a few that I'd want to watch over again. But, the rest can go.

Well, let the Internet help out with auctions sites, Amazon.com and various Book/CD/DVD trading clubs. =) Good luck!

I did not know that... I have to check if there are places here who would do that... I know that my son exchanged his old games whenever he wants to buy a new one; but I don't know where I can do the same for DVDs...

The only place I know of that does that is Hastings Books, Videos and Music stores. Maybe you may have a place like that where you live. Hastings doesn't take everything you bring to them but they do take a lot of stuff in exchange for store credit or cash.

For some reason, I just can't part with my DVDs! Even if I'm not particularly fond of them. But the majority of my DVDs, I love!
