Well, the usual kids party here in the Philippines, as far as I know and experienced, is celebrated with food, including cake, spaghetti(99 percent of the time), pancit(search for this in the internet, it's believed that this food was originally introduced to us by chinese) and other party food, balloons, parlor games, sometimes with clowns or costumed people, and mostly with music. Being a Christian country, it is a traditionally important to attend mass and light a candle during birthdays to thank God for the gift of life and to pray for more blessings.

I think children likes to enjoy birthday parties very much and some family in our places use to celebrate children birthdays with huge parties and music and balloons and good food. I think most people in your place goes to church to pray during the birthdays.

Happy Birthday - Blow your cake, blow!
At 4 a child would so enjoy it if he has a cake to blow on his birthday. I think the blowing of cake is something that really excite them. He does not really mind the food but he is excited to see the many gifts. So whatever way we want to celebrate a kid's birthday, whether it be just a simple dinner for the whole family only or even for all of you friends and relatives as well we here in the Philippines do make sure there is a cake to blow and gifts he would delightfully open.

hi there, i am from India, but i guess birthday celebrations are almost the same in most countries. there might be a grand party or as simple as cutting a cake, going outside to a restaurant with family or dinner or throwing a grand party in the restaurant. if we celebrate birthday of our kids, we might celebrate by cutting the cake with all the neighbouring kids, distributing sweets.

I'm in the USA. To me it depends on your budget as to what you do. For us we go on an outting somewhere, dinner at a restaurant, and birthday cake. We haven't done a theme just because it's a waste to have say the childs favorite character on plates, napkins, banners ect. I do make an effort for them to have a cake atleast if we don't have money for anything else. Sometimes it's a cake from a box mix sometimes it's from the bakery at the grocery store. The kids are happy to have anything when they are really little. For my son who is 4 when he had his birthday he got treated to pizza at Chuck E. Cheese and a cake from the grocery store. But because his sister's b-day is so close we celebrate them together. We've only had three big birthday parties when my oldest and middle turned one and when my father-in-law turned 70. Sometimes people do things based on their heritage but I really don't know of anything but this topic is inspiring me to look further into knowing what is done for birthdays.

Hi! I am from the Philippines and we celebrate birthdays according to our means. Wealthy people celebrates a grand birthday, some in 5-star hotels, but average income earning people is just happy with a cake and a "pancit", a kind of recipe made of noodles mixed with meat and vegetables. Very poor people just let the day pass by without even remembering its their birthday. Most parents also usually celebrate their child's 7th birthday. They really prepare for that according to their budget, and then they also prepare for the debut which is for the girl its the 18th birthday and for the boys its the 21st birthday. If they don't have money they don't usually celebrate.

The trend of having birthday parties have been in my country India ever only since the past 50 years . The tradition of having birthday parties was started by the Britishers when India was an English colony . Traditionally , India didn't have a custom of celebrating birthday parties with cakes , gathering and other party related stuff . In the olden days , people used to donate stuff and feed the poor on their birthdays . But off late , in the past 50 years due to influence from western culture , birthday celebrations have changed into parties like how its celebrated in most other countries . Usually a cake is cut and the friends are invited . Its has become a custom for the friends to give a gift and they usually are served food at the party . A return gift is given to all the guests of the party . But all this celebrations are done only by people who are rich enough to host a party . Most people in India celebrate birthdays in a simpler way by just distributing a few chocolates at their work place or school . But the trend of hosting birthday parties with cakes was never seen in India before the infulx of British influence .
