My daughter last night showed me that her tooth fall off.. she even showed it to me. lol it has been wiggling for the past few days now. So i told her to hide it under the bed so tooth fairy will come!
She was so excited for it that she slept early! She did not even made a fuss when my hubby woke her up! But then again i forgot to put money under the pillow! lol.. but thank God hubby did not, my daughter was sitting right up in her bed clutching P50.00 / $1.00 she was so happy!
Then she said to me.. mama it was just you who gave me that money, tooth fairies are not real! Then i said to her, no tooth fairies are real, have you seen the movie by the rock? lol he was a tooth fairy there... i know she believed me.
I told her that not because i need to hide reality but i believe she needs to believe first in some magic, just like believing in Santa claus as that what makes childhood wonderful and since she is still young, i want her to experience that first, the magic of being a child and not yet of the reality...

Hi Jazel
i want her to experience that first, the magic of being a child and not yet of the reality... . You are right and I admire the mom in you. Today, many parents believe in telling out the facts much earlier than the kids are prepared for.

Okay, enough.
Now for the discussion - I wonder where were these fairies when I was a kid. I never got anything anytime my tooth fell. Now should I find one? And confront that fairy where she was when I was losing the 32 of mine? And also would that fairy be around when the tooth fall again (you know, I am growing older - so I still stand a chance to make some good USD here)

I really don't know if I could do the same for my child, if I ever get to have one or some. I know that it will all grow off him/her but I'd like to teach truth and the essence of it to my children-to-be as young as possible. I want them to value it and to know which truth to believe. I would rather have them believe in God and all Christian stuff. Of course, I would have to explain a lot of things to them in a way that they will understand it. It sounds like I'm robbing them off of their childhood, but perhaps there are other ways to make up for it. Well, this is just a plan and nothing sure yet, and more importantly this is just my opinion. I mean, I have no problem with your way of dealing with it that way.

Different parents have different styles choy, my reasons as to why i let my children believe in this as i believe there is magic in it, together with gentleness, plus it enhances their creativity. But i also do not lack in teaching them about Christianity, in fact i just gave them their own bibles yesterday as we have been reading more of it lately as part of their night reading sessions.

Ahh to be young again. I am glad she believes. Children are wonderful and they should stay children as long as they can. I hope that my little one stays young for as long as he can. I am glad your daughter was so happy with her money.

my daughter is quite the opposite, she is into a lot of stuff and can now comprehend reality from fiction that is why i want to sprinkle some magic on her as i am afraid she is growing old too fast.

There is nothing wrong telling kids about magic and fairy tales.
Those are parts of imagination that would help to enhance their creative minds.
Later you can explain about those things -are all part of imagination and illusions.

that was very sweet. i can only imaging how your child looked like when she saw that P50 bill.
My parents didn't like us to believe in tooth fairies and st clause when we were young but that didn't didn't stop us from having vivid imagination. I guess each parent is allowed to have their own kid raising techniques. i think the most important thing is for the parents to love their children and spend enough time with them

I believe in magic. I think life throws little miracles and proofs of magic at us all the time. Why should we not believe in it, it does not hurt, and it gives us hope.
And sometimes, just believing in it makes it true.

Hei friend
I hope you have cheated your daughter nicely. As she was a small child she believed you. But in the meantime when she gets matured she will realise your joke. Then I'm sure she will also try to bully you, making jokes like you . Events of this type leads to create close relationships between parents and children.
