I usually use candies, small toys, playing cards, pencil sharpeners, pens, maybe even magazines. What do I stuff stockings with?

And I bet the batteries make everyone happy. I hate it when I get something that needs batteries and I don't have any.

Somewhere along the line, when my kids were young, we started the tradition of "socks for your stocking" and usually everyone got some unique socks, house slippers--something like that. We still shop for "socks for your stocking" Something else I did that my kids enjoyed was that I went to an antique (junktique) store and bought things that interested them or matched their hobbies. My son always liked ducks, had a duck collection, I got him a duck from a shooting gallery. My daughter got an oldish (not quite antique or valuable) children's book.We put travel games in stockings, and extra batteries. For a girl a special piece of jewelry from Dad is nice. I also made a habit of putting healthy snacks that they could eat while opening their presents, so they would not get all grumpy. We did granola bars, some cheese sticks, fruit, beef jerky, nuts. Thanks for causing me to remember a happy time.

For the kids I put in candy, small toys, and tooth brushes . We have stockings for the adults too. In there I put candy and some of those small samples like shampoo, deodorant, powder.

I like to put scratch off lottery tickets in a stocking, socks are always nice. I like to put a few rocks also for fun. My mom and I go to fast food places or lunch sometimes. I get the kids meal, I save the toys and use them in stockings, the kids love it.

You could probably put a pair of brand new socks in there, candy like you said, some electronic games could fit in there, notepads, mugs and stationary might fit in there too.

I like to put oranges, apples, whole nuts then chocolate. I then go to the dollar store and get alkinds of little toys. For the old people I put hair bands, brushes, finger nail files, nail polish, shoe polish, cheese balls, shirts and a box of assorted chocolates.

I lOVE stocking stuffers. I usually buy things all year round for the stockings. But you can bet every year you will receive a new toothbrush, the coolest one out that year, toothpaste of your liking, and chapstick. I think these three things are essential for everyone. Now after that it is just little keepsake things I find throughout the year, a liitle bit of candy, usually an orange and apple since they are good for you and they fill the stockings up nicely!

As a child it was always an apple, an orange, a 50 pence piece, then little toys and stationery items. I own a toy shop, and it's crazy what I hear people are putting in stockings (in terms of value). To me the whole point is unusual, interesting and CHEAP.
