Do you have any movies that you don't appreciate at first?

Well, today, I just watched the movie Troy. I know this movie is not new. Honestly, I have watched this movie a number of times before, but afterwards, I find myself sleeping and wondering what happened. I am not really fond of this genre of movies, I find it boring until our professor in Humanities tackled Iliad, I still don't fully understand it but somehow gave me the interest to watch this movie. Troy is somehow an edited version of the Iliad and the Odyssey perhaps? ( the books were not really followed, in creating a movie) Anyway, I just watched the movie and I really liked it. You have have to know or understand what was there. The characters, the setting and everything are amazing. Maybe I just needed to learn a little knowledge about it to appreciate this, imagine that your watching a movie and you do not understand anything about it. How about you? do you have any movie that you don't like before but loved it now?

I remember at first when I watched Brave Heart, I felt bored. Then I got a shock when I watched the scene that William Wallace's wife got killed. After that, this movie became thrilling to me. This is a great movie and I dropped tears at last. I felt so moved to it.
I love China

Joneilromana:
There are movies that I didn't like when I first watched them, but now, like you, I love them. I believe one factor is that it has to do with is certain times in your life and what experiences you go through. Your experience of having to read the Iliad and Odyssey in your college course helped changed your perspective of the movie--a positive perspective. It's because you got additional information and interpretative analysis that made you enjoy the movie more.
I love horror movies and grew up watching them. One of my favorite series is Friday the 13th movies. There are a couple in that series that I didn't appreciate when I was younger until I watched them again. I liked them more than the others that were my favorites. I think that it has to do with my experiences and that I get some of the humor and stupidness of the characters. It is funny how you frown up a amovie, and then, later find it intriguing.

You are right, maybe the learning in school affected me to watch Iliad, If this did not happen, I would not appreciate that movie until now.
I also love watching horror movie, the one that's scared me most were exorcism of Emily Rose and Insidious. Paranormal activity is also creepy and good but boring.

hello,
What you have written above has already happened with me a lot of ties. There are many movies which I thought was boring or bad movies , but when I saw that movie, I was like ooooo, its so good. Why didn't I watched it before. I was schocked. There are many movies like Godfather, Saw part1, and also Grudge. Those are few movies which I really liked. They were really awesome. I dont know why in my mind I was thinking they were bad. Well I was wrong and still I make those mistakes. I read reviews all the time before watching any movie.

Yeah, you are right. I watched Grudge and I think its scary :) Maybe you are thinking that it was bad due to hideous scenes found in that movie. :D Thanks for your response!

It happened to me with Oscar winner Atonement. When I watched it for the first time with my friend, I thought:what a boring movie. The next time I watched it alone and it seemed way better, even interesting. At some point I started liking it.But some movies never get better no matter how hard you try to convince yourself that there's something great in them.

Hello joneilromana,i just have the same feeling as yours.I don't like the movie Mission Impossible, because of its name, which is boring in my eye.Till the Mission Impossible 4 put on in the theater,my best friend suggested me to watch with her.First,i almost have no interest in it,but gradually,i was absorbed in it,it's so exciting and incredible that i finally love this series of movies deeply.

Just like what they say, Do not judge a book by it's cover, and this quotation is very much applicable when you taught mission impossible is boring :)
