I was playing around with my cell phone to test all functions. I can read PDF files on my cell phone, which is great, I can read some ebook whenever I have break time (oh, I forget to mention that my phone is Samsung, Galaxy model, an android phone). I can listen to mp3 music with it. One problem that befuddle me is, I can't play video on it, which I transfer 2 video files, which is avi format and mp4 format respectively, both of them are not compatible with this phone. So, I just wonder, what video format is playable on this phone, does anyone know?

have you tried mpg format or 3gp? I think they are playable in samsung model. Try searching the video converter in the android market. I think you will get it.

Hopefully that will work, because I tried a couple of formats they just didn't work. I love to play around those gadgets and figure out a way to get around them.

Yes, I believe samsung galaxy can play both 3gp and mp4 and almost all other video formats. What formats have you tried so far? Are those original files or you have converted them. Maybe it has something to do with the size after conversion. I remember using a cellphone before that can only play 3gp so I would usually convert my files to that format with specific size because if I would just convert it and would not set the size to 3gp for mobile (the smallest size), my phone wouldn't play it although it is already in 3gp format. It would just display a note that the file is not supported. Try to check the settings before converting.

Try downloading an application like vlc which supports all video formats. The covenience of this is that you wont have to convert videos anymore the format supported by your mobile phone since it can play all the common video and audio formats available.

This is very strange that you can not play the videos from your Galaxy phone. As I think it should play any kinds of videos. Mainly my video formats are rmvb and mkv. As these are the main formats for my videos. I tried to play an avi format video in the past and it seemed that it didn't support it very well. As the video is not so fluent and clear. But if I use different players to play it and it will be fine. Try to download a different video player for your cellphone and this problem shall be fixed. I love China

The most compatible video format for samsung galaxy is wmv files but I really don't have any problems playing avi, mp4 or even mkv files. Check if you can play them on your computer or copy them again to your phone.

What? They didn't support avi and mp4? A brand new, stylish and deluxe cellphone, didn't support avi and mp4? Maybe they only support with 3gp format. If yes, what a pathetic then. Try to get an application to solve that in android market. Have you used antivirus on it? I know a great antivirus with couple magnificent built in feature for android.
