Louis van Gaal is a good manager. He has shown his credentials in the former clubs that he has coached: Ajax, Barcelona, Alkmaar Zaanstreek and Bayern Munich. He also coached the Dutch national team from May 2000 to January 2002 in which Holland failed to qualify for the 2002 World Cup. I am not sure if he could steer Holland to greatness. He failed in the first attempt. Maybe he would do better this time. Holland has never been in short supply of talented players. All that they need is a good manager to mold the 11 players into a true team. They can beat anyone but they always self-destruct.

There is no doubt that Louis Van Gaal is one of the better international coaches around. And I think after the long rein of Bert Marwjick which has been a mixed bag for Dutch, this is the right time for the change. So Van Gaal has around 2 years to build a new team finding replacements for aging stars such as Robben and Van Bommel.
Cheers!
Ram

hello,
I also agree with you my friend. It is a correct decision. I know Netherlands team is going through some tough phase. They got eliminated from Euro Cup i the first round. They lost all their league matches. It was really humiliating for the team and for the fans. They have great players and if they get proper coaching in the right direction then I think they will definitely strike back. Dont forget they were the runners up in the world cup 2010. They have the potential and lets see what Louis Van Gaal can do now.

The problem with the Dutch national team is the ego and in-fighting that occurs during every major tournament. They don't understand that with the talents at their hand, with a good strong spirit, they can rule the world. One point to take note. Spain was a nation with many great talents but there was this Real Madrid-Barcelona rivalry that derail them. Since 2008, they have learn to bury the bad blood and work as one team and their rewards is three consecutive major title. Back to Holland, it does not matter who they appoint as coach, they won't win anything until they have settle the dressing room indifferences.
