Such a pesky pesky problem. I found an article that gives tips on keeping them away. I believe everyone has heard of these tips, I'd heard of all but one. If you have any other tips, let us know.

I have vinegar and the spices, but no spray bottle. I may just sponge down the counters with a protective layer of vinegar, awful smell but if it keeps them away...
How do you keep the ants away?

I think people would have to be really careful about what gum they put down, or they might have the opposite thing happen and ants swarming all over the gum. I have heard of mint but I thought that was mice not ants. The ants like to come in through my patio door once the weather starts getting warm. I just place one of those ant hotel things by the door and they don't bother me the rest of the year. That is probably not the most humane thing to do though. Different kinds of ants require different types of deterents though. I am happy to say I live in an area where we don't get any of the really dangerous ants.

actually i have seen and learned this from my grandfather when i lived with him in a short time in the province,he said that spray a little beat of malathion chemicals especially in the holes and the houses of the ants and they will surely go away.

I actually used the cinnamon when I lived in another house. The ants had taken over a stepping stone I used to get to the door.
I shook cinnamon all over the stone and they were GONE!
Being as I'm allergic to ant stings I also don't mind killing the little beasts.
One method I've heard is to mash borax or baking soda into a tiny amount of mint jelly. Fill a straw (actually a bunch of straws) with the mix and put them down in the track of the ants. They will gather the mint/soda mix and die.

We have had this problem before until my dad bought this chalk supposedly to repel cockroaches. It was a wild try but it somehow worked. We wrote it on walls where they would usually parade. I have never tried any other thing yet but thanks to this, I have several options now in case I do encounter the problem again.

Ants are most attracted to cold or if they found sweet around. Keep your kitchen clean. Ensure that no sugar or any sweet item should not lie on floor. Spread vinegar and spices to holes from where they come.

yeah ants can be problematic..in my house there are many that parade..tried some things which did not help to keep the ants away. I have tried the chalk that kills cockroach..easy kill chalk works best for me. I make lines with that chalk where ever ants appear and trust me as soon as the ants cross the line, the effect starts. they start falling and dying.

My husband said cinnamon or coffee powder could drive them away. Our son's closet was attacked by ants and they are eating on the rubber prints on his shirts and shorts. I don't exactly know why they eat that when I think it's rubber. Anyway, there's this stick that said to drive ants away. I might try that one because I can't put coffee or cinnamon powder on my son's closet anyway. I'll check vinegar also. I'll wipe the surface and the edges, let them dry, then I'll put back the clothes on his closet. Hopefully they won't attack it again.
