As my friends here know, I have suffered some financial setbacks including a temporary loss of some of my income. At the same time my a/c has stopped working and I really cannot afford to run it, anyway...it's central a/c and the electricity alone would kill my budget...so I've been trying to get a portable evaporative cooler to keep in my bedroom.
Well, I found one on Amazon for around $113 including shipping and I was going to try and put the money together. I was just $7 shy of getting it so I thought I'd see if Amazon had a less expensive one or maybe some kind of deal. They are always doing little things like that that seem to just have a way of helping me afford what I need.
Well, lo and behold, they approved me for an Amazon store card! I was able to order my cooler and it will be here by the 20th of this month. Is it any wonder I keep going back to Amazon? Not only am I able to get this baby right away but it's nearly $50 less expensive than the one I was eyeing at Wal-Mart. It really pays to shop and look around.
Of course, I will be able to pay this off within a month or two which is my rule with any kind of credit card these days. I'm just so glad that I was able to get it. We have been dying here with triple digit temps and me sweating like a horse. Bathing is nice and we did get a nice little pool but there is only so much of that we can do.
My pool is already needing draining and cleaning and then we'll have to find an air pump to pump it back up again. I think it may just behoove me to purchase my own air pump. My bike pump just won't do the trick.
Have you ever found yourself in a bind and suddenly a window opens and the way is made for you to get what you needed? Isn't it a wonderful feeling to know that someone out there is looking out for you?

Dear alaskanray thats really amazing and I am doing the happy dance for you here as you get that cooler now.
Something like this happened to me years ago. I was working with a Christian organization but had lots of problems and clashes with my boss there. I developed stomach problems and was sick for three weeks. My doctor back in old hometown prescribed some meds but they didnt seem to work. so when I got back after two weeks off she said, you dont really need the meds you need a change in your personal situation. I thought, yes maybe but how should that work. She let me be at home for a third week and when I got back to work I had interesting news.
I was asked to work for someone else and when I asked when I could start, the answer was right away. please pack up your stuff in your desk we are moving your stuff tomorrow.
YAY.
Needless to add, that the next morning when I had settled down the stomach pains were gone. I went to the kitchen, got me a mug of coffee (and the nice guy who worked in an ambulance team before had made the coffee so it was reallyyyyyy strong) and didnt have any stomach problems even drinking that stuff.

Don't you love it when things work out for you like that? I'm glad you were able to get out of that stressful situation. Stress can kill and when we have a boss that is difficult to get along with, it can raise our stress to the point of making us ill.Glad you got out of it.

My work situation is not the best right now but as I am on very helpful meds I am able to cope with it much better, shrugging things off and not fretting about them most of the time.

yes, these things happen to me all the time. A few months back, my daughter really wanted her hair done for senior pics and if I remember, I think she was also meeting her boyfriends family around the same time. Needless to say, I just didn't have the money. It was not a necessity but it's rare that she asks me to splurge like that on her and I really wanted to. Well, I went into work and 3 or 4 of my incense burners sold right off. Then I sold a couple of good winning lottery tickets and the guy tipped me. And then I found ( yes, found) a couple of winning lottery tickets that someone had tossed. They were on top of the trash when I went to empty it. By the end of the night, I had exactly 50.00. It was meant to be. She was thrilled.
I'm glad you got your A/C. I've only had one the past couple years and honestly I don't know how I survived without it. The temps here have been brutal as well.

Yes, it's wonderful how things work out when we need them to. My daughter had a date for Prom this year and I was looking at prom dresses online...$200, $300, etc...and choked. Then, when we were just cruising through the Goodwill store we found a perfect dress for $7! That's right, seven...not seventy or seven hundred but seven! I just added a lavender ribbon and she was set. It was beautiful.

Well, that's just it, though. Not all of Goodwill's stuff is second hand and this dress was brand new. There were like three or four of the same dress there so they must have been knockoffs or something...old inventory from a store somewhere. At any rate, we were very pleased with the dress.

well, we have very little money and i have needed new jeans and some new bras for some time. a friend from church gave my daughter and i some really nice hand me downs, including bras and jeans that fit! God is good as He knows what i needed and compelled a friend to pass those along to me.

Yes, God is good, is He not? I cannot count how many times He has sent angels to me to help me out of a bad situation! This has truly been a blessing as some of those situations could have turned into very dire ones indeed!
