Are you a free-thinker?

I had watched a local talk show a few weeks ago wherein the guest was an "atheist" or a free-thinker. He believes only on things that are proven, with documented proof or with scientific explanation. He does not believe in the existence of any God and points out that one should center on human existence. He was born catholic and goes to church when he was younger, but he has a lot of queries on religion that remained unanswered that created doubts. He eventually started his journey of finding answers to his questions, and ended up being a free thinker and leaving his religion behind. To some point, I think his concept of fact-finding to confirm such belief is rather provocative in a sense that it ultimately challenges one's faith, but on the other hand, it is quite reasonable and sane to conclude based on facts and not on fiction or beliefs.

Hi friend, there is nothing wrong in finding proof to believe a thing. But it is really hard to give proof for god's existence. We all know that the wind is existing and we can feel it, but no one have the ability to see wind, in the same way we don't have the ability to see god. It is really hard to prove some things.

There is a reason for everything, rational or irrational in concept, but basically free thinkers are more tending toward scientific proof that would create a reasonable degree of competency to formulate a hypothesis and then processing the veracity/action-reaction phase to establish a fact based on these.

Free thinking is a good thing. Truth and facts are more important than mere beliefs. The question is: Does he wait for the facts to come to him or does he search for truth?? Just as you have said. He BELIEVES God does not exist. Does he search for the truth??? If he says no then he is doing exactly what so many people of religion are doing. Blind Faith works on all sides.

When he started having doubts, developed queries with no answers, he started doing research on his own. Reading the bible, the koran and other religious stuff, and in his search, somehow his queries were answered by documented facts and scientific evidences, i.e. the evolution of man as compared to Genesis in the bible.
