Anderson checking in!
Here's our city website. Isn't our mayor a doll!?!
http://www.cityofanderson.com/ftsa_07-2004.aspx
Just north of us and across the highway, a North Anderson Church Of God project called Madison Park is being developed, starting with a big, beautiful church.

There's even more that I can tell you about Anderson, but I'll stop here for now.

Hi Anderson! Been a while since I lived there--bout 10 years. We lived out Pendleton Ave. in one of those cottages. It was the only place we could find that would let us keep our dog, lol. I miss the White Castle badly tho. We don't have much in the way of fast food in Fairmount, but it's worth it for my kid to go to school here. Thanks for stopping in, and come back anytime! You have been rated :)

I know where you're talking about, I believe! It's that court of cottages that I believe now call themselves The Country Inn, and there's a small restaurant in front of them.
I had a wreck in front of that restaurant back in the spring of 1971 when it was called Pan Tree Restaurant, because I'd been burning the candle at both ends with my high school graduation coming up.
I was pulling in there to order a pizza (phone-in to Art's so that it would be ready for me to pick up and bring home to surprise my folks--had been out with other kids from my high school selling Soo-Bee Honey to raise funds for special needs people) and I saw myself in slow-motion going towards the mailboxes and telephone pole.
Thankfully, I stopped short of hitting the telephone pole, but my Camaro had been caught by the mailboxes it had just run over, so it took several strong men from the restaurant to go out there and lift it off so I could drive it again.
Do you know the H. family? Dennis H. was a minister, and he passed away in the fall of 2003, but he used to be at the United Methodist church there. His widow and kids still living at home moved back there, and Nikki works for the school system.
Twins (Marta and Megan) go to MG, and the youngest (Sean) just turned 13 this August. They used to be at our church--in fact, Nikki and her brother grew up there, and her parents still are members there, even though her brother married a Catholic and switched his membership. Nikki also has a grown son (from her first marriage) named Ryan D. and two grown stepchildren, Melissa and Christopher. They're all in their late twenties.
A totally-sweet-and-wonderful family!
Fairmount is a really nice place with a lot of history--everything from James Dean to Jim Davis. Keep in mind that, if you see a train heading north, there's very little doubt that it's been through Anderson first!

Yep, that was the place. We only lived there about a year, then we started taking custody of my husband's kids left and right, so we had to get out of the County Inn for obvious reasons.
Can't say I know the H Family, but they sound like a good family to know. Most of the people we met and made friends with in Anderson were just like us--from somewhere else, lol. Muncie, Dunkirk, Marion, Indy, etc.
I'm originally from Gas City and the hubs grew up down by the Marion VA, but we do like Fairmount. Madison-Grant has one of the best public school systems in our area. Jim Davis is a very nice man, besides the Garfield fame. I have only met him once, but grew up with a lot of his family members in Gas City. James Dean is a big deal in my family, such a shame, a waste of such talent. We were lucky enough to find an old year book with James Dean in it at a flea market for my mother's birthday.
I'll take a look at the links you left for me (and anyone else reading), and in the meantime, if you don't mind, would you let me know if the Waffle-Steak on Scatterfield & I69 has reopened? I really miss the chunked and smothered hashbrowns they serve there. My family and I were by there in September on our way back from Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and the Waffle-Steak was closed for remodelling.
Thanks for the add, too, btw. :)

Fort Wayne, Indiana here. I'm sure unlike many people here, I havent lived in Indiana for too long. I've only lived here since last August. Before then I had lived in Ohio since I was 5 and I'm 22 now.
I'm adjusting to Indiana though. I don't like the colder winters. There is an upside to living next to Piere's where all the bars are, haha. And I also live next to IPFW.

Unfortunately I haven't really had a chance to check out the bar scene much since I've been here, as I really don't have many friends here, but I will be sure to keep your recommendation in mind. :)

I love Fort Wayne. Have you been to III yet (on Colliseum)?
If you like Pierres, you'll love III. Safest place for a woman to go get a drink and not get hassled, and tons of fun for men, lol. IPFW is a good school, I went to IUK years ago, doing the IvyTech thing now, it's closer to home. Yeah, the cold does suck, but spring will be here soon. So glad you stopped by, you have been rated :)
Btw, you might want to check out Fronkie Park (sp?) when the weather breaks. Most bad-azz zoo I've ever seen.

Yep. I live here in Terre Haute Indiana. I've been living here about 3 years now. I used to live in Ft. Knox Ky, my dad was in the military. I miss Ky because all my friends are down there. I'll move back one day, maybe. I still don't classify myself as a Hoosier, but I guess it's better than a redneck. Maybe I'll change my mind. Ha ha ha.

Cool. At least you're warmer than I am, lol. I'm sorry you got uprooted from your home and friends, that's gotta hurt some. That Hoosier instinct will sneak up on ya soon enough, there won't be any need to change your mind, and I promise no one expects you to turn "redneck" hahahaha....If you've ever ran for the icecream truck when the doorbell was ringin' you MIGHT be a redneck...hahahaha. Couldn't resist, lol, big Foxworthy fan here. Forgive me. You have been rated, tho.

A Hoosier /'hu.??/is a resident or native of the U.S. state of Indiana, but is sometimes used as a slang term for "white trash" in other parts of the country, especially in Missouri, Illinois and Arkansas. The term is commonly accepted and employed at all levels of discourse by Hoosiers themselves, and is considered neither derogatory nor informal when used to describe people from Indiana. The word Indianan, as either noun or adjective, is never used by natives of Indiana. Deriving from common usage, "Hoosiers" is the team name for Indiana University athletic teams, and a movie starring Gene Hackman, about an Indiana high school basketball team.
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the etymology of the word is unknown, but it has been in use since at least 1826. According to Bill Bryson, there are many suggestions for the derivation of the word "Hoosier," but none is universally accepted.
It first came into general usage in the 1830s. John Finley of Richmond, Indiana wrote a poem, The Hoosier's Nest, which was used as the "Carrier's Address" of the Indianapolis Journal, January 1, 1833. As it came into common usage, the debates about the term's origin began.
