Online jobs provide the convenience of having the comfort of your home, stress-free from annoying office mates, traffic, expenses on food and make-up and clothing. It also gives flexibility on qualifications like age and education.
Office-based jobs provides office amenities, health insurance benefits, allowances, incentives, bonuses and corporate branding.
Just recently resigned and been thinking if I will still pursue corporate job hunting or online/home-based job. Which is better? Online or Office-based jobs?

Hey there! Welcome to mylot!
Well it depends on your personality. If you are an outgoing person I'm sure you love to go to office everyday. You meet different people while on your way and adjust in different personalities on your office specially if bullying comes in. A kinda challenge dealing with these sh_ t guys.
The best for online job is you don't need to groom yourself before you start working. This is best for mommies where they can't leave their kiddos to nannies.
There are lot of advantages and disadvantages to both. You can try online jobs for you to weigh things which one best suit your personality.
Happy mylotting.

Thanks Jenith for the welcome! I'm actually in the process of familiarizing myself on mylot and online work. My resignation is actually a family reason for I had the hard time to look for a good nanny to take care of my children. It is a major decision for me for I've been in the corporate world for more than eighteen years. Though sometimes it seemed to be boring being at home, I feel it is really a good start for me being here in mylot. I enjoy discussions like this. I do hope to get a rewarding online job. Hope to have suggestions. thanks again.

As in any decision, one has to weigh the pros and cons. Traditional and conventional jobs require the employee's physical presence, may provide attractive compensation. Online jobs require your time but not your physical onsite. A doting mother, may prefer an online job to be able to spend more time with her children.
Well, right now, I would prefer an online job. I feel that I have already exhausted all my energies in my traditional job and I would like to stay at home. Maybe you can dish out some tips on how I can go about this. I am a single father, and I want to have more bonding time with my children, take them to school and fetch them, prepare their baons, and bring them to the movies.
I do hope that an online job would make all of this possible.

If you are desperate, office job is preferable at least until you come out of that. While doing the office job, you can start the online jobs for extra cash. And slowly you can switch to completely online earnings.
But if you are little stable financially, you can start online jobs and slowly build up your income.
Online earnings, sometimes we get distracted or our efforts may go waste exactly at the time we need the money. Until we find a good site and a good strategy, it's little unstable.

I think it depends on the person involved and the situation he/she is in right now.
Both options (online and offline) is okay as long as you have a fair employer.
In online work there are two types: Freelancing and Telecommuting, when you freelance you don't have the benefits like a 13th month pay, sss, etc. But if are telecommuting you have those benefits.
So If you want to work from home and at the same time receive benefits given to an office-based job, then might as well look for a company that gives their employees an option to telecommute. (Ex. KGB Phils.) ^_^

that would depend on you because if you are just really a hard working person you can just do online. but as for me, i think its office since your salary is already fixed and you have benefits, you will also meet people. while if you will do online your salary depends on what you can do online. but if your that diligent you can surpass also your salary in an office jobs. so that will be just depend on you on what do you prefer.

Hi lovcie, the answer to your question would probably depend on the person himself. Both working online and in an office have advantages and disadvantages. There are people who are at their best in working alone while there are some who likes to be with different teams and people. In my case, I would really love to work online because of some considerations. I am married and I think that it would be nice if I am at home and can manage my own time doing both my job and my responsibilities as a wife. I also know some people who earn by creating websites for an Australian company. But like the usual office employee, they work from 8am to 5pm and were being monitored remotedly. What I like with working home-based is that you no longer have to stress yourself with dealing with some office mates like you have mentioned. And yes, I have known a person who are already retired from his job and now working online, Age was never an issue as long as you can do the job properly. I am currently working in an office. This may not be the job I really like but I am staying because of the good salary and incentives. It is like saving for your future once you retired. It also enhances my interpersonal skills because thru my experiences with different people, I was able to improve myself as an employee and as a person in general.

Hi Paper_doll, thanks for your comment. I am also married and got two children. My youngest really prefers that I take care of them. However, I am still thinking of either pursuing an online job or an office-based for I find myself depressed at times due to my extrovert personality. Most likely, I am currently in the stage of adjustment. :):):) Many thanks for the response for it will certainly help me in weighing things.

Well, any job is ok as long as we love to do it with good income. Currently my online income is very low so that i still need a job offline...I have no plan to focus on online job yet because it is not easy to earn much money online, however i can get much fun from online job, such as with mylot..

Hello lovce,
Always remember office job is better than online jobs as they pay you better.I am having an offline job which pay me 100 times better than online sites and i can't think of leaving it to depend solely on online earnings. For those who have other source of income they may do online work than offline job.

Just like what the other mylotter said, it always depends upon the person. Some prefer Online and other prefer office. For me, I prefer office based jobs since I'm a type of person who doesn't want to interact in front of a computer whole day and want to talk to someone else and work with them. Office works have more benefits just like what you state in your discussion (health insurance etc.) and has more income. Some factors i see that someone will prefer online job are the following: when he/she doesn't like to interact with others (clients, co-workers, etc) personally, has a computer and stable internet connection, prefer working alone, undergraduate, and the income is enough for his daily living or extras. Online jobs are also good as a part time when you are a student so you can have some extra money which you can use for your expenses on school or just simply save it.

For new graduates, I think it is good for them yet to try working on a job with a real, physical office. Although it is still approriate to start on work-at-home/online jobs, it would be better if they experience also working in an office together with other co-workers. This way, they also get to learn and develop good interpersonal relationships. However, for moms like us, I'm sure, and many people would agree, that work-at-home/online jobs are far better than office-based jobs. Aside from the fact that you get to save yourself from the hassles of traveling/commuting from work to office, you can easily manage your time between work and family. But still I know of some who also prefer office-based jobs over online jobs for reasons like stability, growth, benefits, incentives and many others related to career growth. Depending on priorities, I believe each has its own benefits and trade-offs. It is already up to us to weigh which has more benefits for the situation that we are in.
