A seminar about e-commerce will be organized in the next time. I would like to attend. I feel that I'm suitable with it. I would like to learn more this field. However, my boss also would like to attend, too. Only one person will be invited. Should I suggest that I should be attended?

Maybe you're right. But I think I won't pay the fee, because this seminar serve for our company.

If you are really qualified, then I think your boss will not insist himself of joining the seminar and instead, recommend you to attend.

In my personal views, you should not be so aggressive to attend this seminar. Since there is only one person to attend the seminar, you must let your boss as the priority to attend it. If you request for replacing your boss to attend this seminar, I afraid you are starting to impress your boss negatively. However, I belief you will have other chances to attend other seminars later.

Perhaps you could could asked you boss if you can come with him/her. If the sponsoring team would not be very strict, you can stay without registering but merely as a companion of your boss. But if your purpose is also to have a certificate of attendance, that would be another issue. Well, there is no harm in trying, how would you know if you can attend or not if you will not ask?

No, I do not think you should attend the seminar. As long as you work underneath your boss, do not try to anger him by getting something which he also wanted. The truth is if you attend the seminar, and then your boss can not attend. I do not your boss will feel good about that. So my suggestion for you is to let your boss attend it.

No, don't fight to grab that if your boss is also interested. You work for him. If he wants to attend the e-commerce seminar, let him go. If he does learn something there, and wants to start doing some e-commerce, you will likely be involved. But if it is only you that learn about e-commerce, your boss will never know about that... Maybe you can casually indicate to your boss that you are also interested, who knows he may just buy 2 places for both of you... Good luck!
