How to Avoid Awkward Situations on Facebook?

Do anyone know how to avoid awkward situations on facebook? Like how to get rid of hackers and some other stuff like that. Recently I faced one issue in facebook that, there is a virus which automatically post some rubbish videos on our friend's wall without our knowledge. I clicked some stupid app so I got this problem. Do anyone of you got the same problem? If its so do you guys have any methods to get rid of that problem?
