To show the extend of importance of the environment, we say that maintaining a clean environment is one of the largest investment that the country attaches great interest, especially when some investors start to do their large projects, and they want to achieve in large gains at the expense of other things.
In this way there are the words of an Indian:
" Only after the Last Tree has been cut down. Only after the Last River has been poisoned. Only after the Last Fish has been caught. Only then will you find
that Money Cannot Be Eaten".

By saying "clean environment" you probably mean to keep the nature unharmed and not only clean. In my neighborhood , they started to make renovations so a train will be able to go through. For that cause , they destroyed about 50 square meters of a field and made turned it all to a parking lot. Well ... that's how nature is being destroyed. We build on it and ruin it.
What can we do ? The population is growing and so does the number of cars , there is more need to make place for transportation and to build more houses.
Too bad the animals and trees can't talk. They sure could tell what damage we do to them.

Nature created by God in the balance of normal, if man did not interfere with the projects that would be built, then the pollution does not have a place of this nature. This does not mean, avoid doing any activities or projects. For example, and not limited to, when the owners of factories, timber, cut wood, manufactured in the , there must be a plan for growing replacement trees for these that they have removed.
Human desire and greed to collect more personal benefits, that make him think of personal benefits, nor cares what the consequences of this project, from the surrounding environment influence

i find the issue of the environment to be an interesting; it it said by many that our natural resources are one of the most important, which is a factual statement but at the same time the environment is being destroyed by some of the very some persons who say this.

God created everything around us in nature balance each other. However, human interference is the one who created this pollution.
Therefore there must be severe laws, criminalize and discourage both cause the infringement on the nature.

Whenever there are environmental conferences or talks of such nature everyone immediately agrees that we need to take an active part in protecting the planet. Unfortunately these are often empty words and the people who openly shout about conservation etcetera quite often continue to destroy the earth's resources and squander the future in order to gain a benefit in the present.
There is a lot of truth in the story that you relate because it seems that mankind is unlikely to take a genuine active role in protecting the planet until we have no resources or civilisation remaining.
