Pop bottles for extra cash...

Hello, my myLot friends. So, today concludes another day of pop bottle hunting. I go out every day and spend at least 4 hours searching for the elusive pop can, or bottle. Here in Oregon, we get .05 for each one. Not bad I guess, but that is if you have many. 100 gives you $5. I am trying to gather about 1000. That is a little better money. $50. Anyway, I started doing this about a week ago, and thought to myself, self, why didnt you do this when you were doing well? I could have had thousands of them by now. But no, I figured that my job would last forever...lol Anyway, I just wanted to say that I hope that if you live in one of the states that pay to pick up cans and bottles, go and just do it. Dont worry about what others may think of you. If you can make a few dollars to get you the water bottle, and gloves to grab them out of odd nasty places, and maybe a small lunch, I think it is well worth it. How about you? Do you do this too?

Where I live there are public places with big cans to deposit glass bottles, cans and old newpapers. Someone collects them and the money is given for some charities. It is part of the recycling that the community is making. I know that I could earn some small amount of money by gathering them for myself, but charities are for instance for burned children. They need the money more than I do.

I have at times, but don't now. They don't pay for bottles here and we seldom see them, but aluminum cans are everywhere. I stop and pick them up in parking lots and near public trash cans. People don't think they're worth enough to mess with. Aluminum right now is going for 51 cents a pound! i I don't know where you go, but here, it literally pays to go out and walk along the barrow pit of state highways. People toss cans out all over the place.

In our country people use to do that most especially those people who lived in urban areas they go places like malls and public market and then they collected plastic bottles and empty cans, at first you may think they are beggar but no they're not they just trying to practical as you said if you can earn even a cent for those recycle goods they would do that no matter what other people in their society think about them.

Hi, Man you are doing a good job. I think that is going to give benefit to your place and to you. It will keep the place clean and also you get money. I think many people will do this job if it was the proposal in my country. My place is already clean enough and many bad things for the environment are already banned here. No smoking, no plastic they are banned.

I know an old lady who used to do these in L.A. when I worked there as a facility personnel. I think this is an honest job. Actually, they are not hard-up because her daughter has a job and the husband as well. She just want to spend her days fruitful. And to think she has a government aid which is more than enough for her. She gathers plastic bottles and soda cans while having her walks everyday. She always comes home with a shopping bag full of these items. To our surprise, at the end of the week, she will have enough to be sold to the buyer and gets several dollars on them. She earns around 50-75 dollars a month. I do not know what she spends her money for but if she is still living, she might have plenty of money saved in a bank.

I don't do this but I know it can be profitable. Honestly It wouldn't take very long for me to save all the soda cans and bottles and then go on down and turn them in. I say you're learning a lesson, and once you get a job again I'm sure you'll still collect these cans etc, won't you? You can save any spare money you make off of it for a rainy day.
