Do you dye your hair?

This is a discussion for those of you who dye your hair. Which colours have you tried? Do you stick to the same colour or do you experiment with different colours? Did you ever get an unexpected result? (a different colour than you expected) I have dyed my hair many times. I don't choose exactly the same colour every time, but I usually choose different shades of red. One time I thought that I was going to dye my hair red and it got brown, but I think that is the only time that I got an unexpected result. Brown hair wasn't bad, I didn't plan it, but I could easily live with that. One of my friends was less lucky and when she dyed her own hair her hair got green. She had very long hair, she didn't want to cut her hair and she couldn't afford a visit to the hairdresser so she kept her green hair. She was not happy about it and she never tried to dye her hair again.

I am one of few who not only doesn't like to experiment, but loves the color of my natural hair. So when I started going grey, I was able to find my color after a couple of bad colors, but I also found over the years, my hair was getting dry and brittle from the chemicals. Then someone told me about Henna, a natural hair dye, and I loved it, my hair was soft, except it dyed my grey hairs red, giving my a lot of red in my hair. Now naturally I do have some red, but not that red, so then I found something called Indigo and a site where it says how much henna and indigo to mix for my color and I got it right the first time.. So now I cover my grey with henna and indigo and my hair has the same color(or at least really close) to my natural color..

It's a permanent hair dye, mine lasts for about 6 weeks and then I do my roots again. If you need any tips, just let me know..:)

I have dyed my hair for many years and I have also noticed that the chemicals affect the the hair after a while. Before I started dyeing my my hair I used an ordinary shampoo for my hair, now I use a shampoo for damaged hair. I haven't tried henna, I think that I saw it in a shop once, but I didn't know that it was a natural hair dye. Maybe I should try it, because I don't think that is is a good thing to use the all those chemicals on a regular basis. Is henna is temporary hair dye or a permanent hair dye? It is great to hear that you have found the perfect colour. It is not always easy to find the exact colour that you are are looking for, and I have had to experiment a lot before I found the red colour that I wanted.

I don't dye it, because I'm kind of scared. My hair is really sensitive, and I'm afraid putting some kind of dye/chemical in it would make it even more sensitive and cause damage. Apart from that, if I was 100% sure it would make no harm, once I wuld dye my hair dark blue, for a change, but otherwise, I'd stick to a color which is similar to mine, just warmer and lighter, I guess (mine is a really dark coffee brown).

I think that hair colour can damage the hair, so I understand that you are worried about that if you already have sentitive hair. It is possible that you would be able to use the hair colours without problems, but it is hard to know, and it is a risk that you take. I was worried the first time that I dyed my hair, because I had long hair and I didn't want to damage my hair, so then I finally decided to try it and see what happened, and fortunately it went well. I have been dyeing my hair since that time, I don't do it that often, but I like to dye it a couple of times a year.

I normally dye my hair black. Some will ask me how i get my hair so black. I would also like to try light blue or dark green for my hair and the colours could only been seen under bright light or sunlight. I find it very funny to see peoples reaction when they see something unusual and most of them will ask the same question

I think that black hair is beautiful. I have thought about dyeing my hair black as well, but so far I haven't tried it. I am afraid that I would look too pale if I dye my hair black, but I sometimes think about trying it once just to see what it looks like Yes, it is funny to see people's reaction when they see something unusual. Some years ago my brother had dyed his hair blue and he attracted a lot of attention wherever he went. People stared at him and asked him why he had chosen that colour, but he didn't mind the extra attention that he got, he just laughed about it.

What a wonderful and exquisite timing you have started this discussion,i am so pleased since i also wanted to dye my hair since many of my friends suggested and they also have tried new range of hair dying.many said that we need to experiment with new colors like velon and spa dye colors since they last for longer duration without any worries and they wont get washed away if we wash our hour. So i am planning to dye it in red, yellow and probably blue.but i dont generally like glowing colors since i dont want to be the cynosure of public crowd.i dont think its too costly either,if you try some local hairdresser, they have the creams to make it more subtle and also elite at the same time.actually is this your first time of hair coloring? I always try new colors based on my mood and suggestions or recommendations that i receive for sure

I have dyed my hair many times in the past. I started dyeing my hair 13 years ago, and since that time I have experienced with different brands. In the beginning I only used temporary hair colour that lasted about 6 weeks. Today I use permament haircolour. In the beginning I was afraid of using the permanent hair colour in case if I didn't like the result, but today I have am not afraid to use permanent hair colour. It is my experience that it is best to stay from the cheapest brands, because the hair colour simply doesn't last as long as the other brands. You mentioned that you plan on dyeing your hair red, yellow and blue. I have lots of experience with red colours, but I have never tried to dye my hair blue.

It sounds like you have found the perfect colour, that is great. I have dyed my hair many times, and I am also a bit more confident when I have just dyed my hair. I use permenent hair dye and when the hair starts growing it doesn't look that great, so it is nice to dye my hair again and get my red hair back. I just dyed my hair a few days ago, and that was actually the thing that inspired me to start this discussion.

Can you recommend a perfect shade of red for graying/white hair?

At the moment I use Brillance 842 (Kashmir red) and that is one of the hair colours that you can use if you want to cover grey hair, but there are many other options and your choice depends on the kind of shade that you prefer (light red, dark red etc) The colour that you will get also depend on the colour of your own hair. I have experimented with different colours before I found the one that I have at the moment, you might also have to experiment a little before you find the right colour, because sometimes the colour on the box is misleading and the result depends on your own haircolour and time that you leave the hair colour in the hair when you dye it. If you want a less intense colour you can remove the colour after 20 minutes instead of 30 minutes.

Hi Porco, so far i haven't dye my hair yet. Maybe in future when i have lots of white hair, i might want to dye them, to balanced out my hair. I had seen my sister dye her hair. Most of the time, it is quite hard to get the exact result as what we want. My sister like dark brown and sometimes black color but the result would be a little difference. But, since it is not much a difference, so she still maintained them. It is pity to hear that one of your friends had a green hair color. Actually, what color she choose for dye her hair? If it was me, i am sure will want to change it because i dare not to walk on the street with that hair color.

I have never used hair color before but i think I will be giving it a try soon. The gray hairs are starting to make thie introduction and it is not thrilling me. My daughter is the ine in our famiky who likes to experiment with hair coloring. she has tried everything from blond to black and everything in between, I think she feels better with the blonder colors though.

I used to go to salon to get my hair done however I never like the result and I regret going their when I can have my hair color on my own. After that I refuse going to salon instead I color my hair:) Last month I had a ligth gray hair color and now I have purple red hair and next month I am planning to color my hair burgundy:)

I don't dye my hair, firstly, I like my hair color, and second, dye chemicals do harm on our health. But I think when I am old, I will dye my hair to cover my white hair.

You really ought to let a professional do it. It comes out sooo good. Mine does this great base color which is like an auburn shade and puts foils (highlights) of blonde. Thing is she picked it in the first place and I wasn't so sure, but she was so right.
