Work hard and be miserable; happy later

Do you feel that you have to work hard and be miserable now in order to be happy later? A lot of people work for their kids' education, for daily living and for the future- old age. People work hard so they have something to spend on their retirement years (of couse, there is pension and other benefits). But we need to balance things and enjoy every moment that we have. Working should not be viewed as a burden. There are problems but we have to find happiness in what we do. Enjoying life and at the same time preparing for the future.

I'm 20 now, and I don't want to be like every adult out there...work everyday from check to check, work until you are retired...I can't think of my life like that. I actually want to create my own business with something I would love to do. BUT...at the moment I am working, and keeping an apt with my fiance. I just hoping my dreams will develop sooner than what I think...Never thought time will go by so quickly lol

I have never gotten paid by mylot but i am almost sure its legit .

many people work like crazy to ensure their kids get an education while they are saving for retirement. one cannot rely on the government to take care of us as we age anymore. the governemnt has less and less money for this as people are living longer. in fact, here in Canada, they have raised the retirement age to 67 instead of 65.

Hi Chasecalice, that is my thought this morning. I feel very blue on the way to work, thinking about how I hate to go to work, yet grateful that I still have a job, and wish that I have enough money for retirement right away. I guess we do not feel really free, since we are bond by our work, and bosses. If only we are rich enough to do whatever we want, we can find work that we like, regardless of money that we earn.

I dont think so. Happiness is a choice for all of us, and most of the time, we choose not to be not because we cannot be happy but because we are not contended and/or let themselves get dictated by the people around them. You have to follow what your heart tells you. You have to love the things you do in life. Ofcourse balance is key and other present factors, but happiness in your work dominates in my opinion

Yeah, it is quite the notion nowadays. Even I is immersed in that notion. That is why I am starting early to work hard so that I can build up at a younger age. But I do feel that we should set goals, work hard to achieve that set goal, then pamper yourself after achieving it. Then the cycle goes on. Plan another level up goal, level up your hardwork, then reward yourself with an even extravagant pampering if you reach your goal. The goals should be getting higher and the work should make you improve better and that is where the fulfillment will be more rewarding than eve. That is my take on life.
