Oh Math!

Should I blame myself for not being good at math? or should i put the blame on my teachers who didn't make the learning of numbers fun and interesting? I don't really know when I started to hate Math, but when I was on my second grade I already have memorized the multiplication table and I was good at it. I just don't know how I started to dislike it. From then on, I always fall asleep during Math time, it's as if my mind travels in the dreamland where numbers don't exist. I finished a degree without having even just a little love for that subject (good thing I only had 2 math subjects back then). I actually attributed the passing grades I got from God's goodness. But I always hope that there is no Math in exams given during job applications. However, in the exams i took only today, there were plenty of questions relating to problem solving and computation. I actually wanted to stop and leave right away, coz I couldn't stand forcing myself in finding the right answers. But still, I managed to finish the exams with the thought that I am most likely to fail. To my surprise, I was congratulated. I don't know how I made it but I'm so glad I did. :) Math is really my waterloo, good thing it doesn't fail me today.

When people learn what I do for a living, they always say "You must be really good in Math" I was like, heck no! Back in school, I always feel like I have been hanging on the edge of a passing mark by my pinky during Math exams. I deal with numbers, yes, but I let my calculator and spreadsheets do the computing lol!

My uncle is also a CPA and he used to live with us in the city. I remember sitting on his lap while the actual spreadsheets cover our dining table and he's looking for the missing 10 cents to balance the figures. It's always a game for us, hunting numbers. Of course back then I always thought the we literally look for the number "10". After that I decided that I wanna do what he does for a living.

Hi, Many students dislikes maths. Why is this so I can't understand. Some students don't try to understand it and are afraid of maths. They should learn maths with interest then you will enjoy maths. Some teachers are so strict that they can not explain with soft words and easy methods. So children goes on disliking maths. Best of luck

Why blame others for your weakness? Mathematics is you waterloo because you think it is. It is just mind over matter. You are already thinking that you are not good in it that is why you fail at it. The first thinking of it being your weakness starts the failure. Don't consider it as a weakness. Consider it as a challenge and dare yourself with that challenge. If your mindset is just like that, I am sure you will get over your fear of Mathematics. Hope this helps!

We will always have our weaknesses as well as our strengths, and we can't change that. It just so happened that some, if not most of us, find it hard when it comes to dealing with Math. Maybe the difficulties that some people have with Math will remain a tale predicament as old as time. But being not-so-good at one thing doesn't mean that you will ALWAYS be not-so-good at it, as in EVERY NOW AND THEN. I believe that despite our weaknesses, we could still get over this and emerge successful, if we try to face this weakness with determination and eagerness to get over with it. I may not be one of those not-so-good in Math, but I know I am not perfect. I tend to go flunking in any other subject, as well, because I also have my own waterloo, as well. I know that I could get through with these weaknesses of mine if I put away thoughts of pessimism and will myself to think that I could do it and I could overcome it especially if I give my best and study hard and smart for that particular subject. :)

is not only you who feel math subject as a waterloo...Not to be boastful but i just want to share this,,,i belong to the top honor since and math is my lowest grade. I was really upset that time because math is one of the academic subject. So what I did Is i try some superstitious belief from my ancestord in which you are going to study at dawn because you can easilymemorize numbers and formulas at that time Good it works for me and i was able to become who am i right now!
