I use Facebook to promote my work

I know lots of people are Facebook crazy. I'm not. I don't have much use for Facebook other than when I want to promote my work. It does make a big difference. My page views started taking off when I started promoting on Facebook... so I usually make over $55 dollars a month just from people clicking on my stuff. I have almost 1300 pieces on Yahoo Voices and just under 300 pieces on Knoji. Page views at Knoji suck, so it doesn't even matter. But Yahoo Voices is quite profitable, because I don't have to do anything and my views continue to be up there. When I am not able to write articles, I will just write a 3 line haiku poem once in awhile to keep people coming to my pages. I get comments from people making google searches on a lot of topics. One of my most visited pages is my article about my total knee replacements. I was surprised at how many people messaged me to tell me they enjoyed or were educated by that article.
I believe that Facebook and Google are my friends for allowing me to make a little passive income.
Your thoughts?

I agree. I also use Facebook mostly for promotion.
You should also consider using twitter. If people really like you work so much - they will follow you on twitter. And so will me notify when you publish something new (since you will tweet the link). Also it is good for SEO.

At this point in time, I really don't have a lot of experience with using facebook as a marketing tool. However, I will admit that it is something that I am starting to get into because of the fact that I was invited to join a marketing dream team for one of the digital scrapbooking sites that I've been a member of for many years.
It is interesting to hear that using facebook as a marketing tool is something that works for you and I do hope that it will also be something that will work for our digital scrapbooking site.

Hi Pose. It's not going to work so well for you. You are Canadian so you won't get paid every month. They don't pay upfronts to Canadians. Just people in the US are eligible. You can vet money from page views but it doesn't pay you until you reach $100 and then you only get to keep $70 out if that.
Winterose writes for YV and she is Canadian. It takes her 4 or 5 months to make $100. Then taxes in the US are taken out, I guess. I get all I earn but Canadians don't. Other countries are not eligible at all to earn from Yahoo Voices.

Hi Aunt Hatley,
Yahoo Voices doesn't pay upfronts for poetry.. all creative writings are for performance payments... you will get paid for page views... think of all your friends here being your supporters on Yahoo Voices? You would make a lot more than me with less articles, I'm almost sure of it.
There was one girl I knew who made over $1000 a month just with performance pay .. that's from page views. She has a huge following. I bet you could too. I wish I could get a huge following to make that much a month..

I do the same thing.
I use facebook to share my writings and nothing much of that.
I am not a fan of social sites either.
I rather spend my time writing and mylotting than chatting.
I only leave message to friends when necessary and greet them on their birthdays and other occasions.

Would you kindly explain how you use facebook or any other social networking sites for promotion of your work? I have a blog on blogger for homeopathy which describes some common diseases with their aetiologies, clinical features, investigations and treatment by homeopathic medicines. So I think it has a more or less bright prospect. But unfortunately, due of lack of proper promotion, it does have a good traffic. So I earnestly seek your suggestion in this respect.

True. If you write crap, no one will be interested. Since 2007 I've made over $5,000 so I think I'm doing alright. A grand a year isn't a lot but it's better than a kick in the butt. I used to be active writing for upfronts. Now I just take assignments. They are few, but the pay is better than the regular upfronts.

It sounds like you are being a good business woman. I understand that you can tweet your articles as well. I wish you lots of views and good fortune. It is really neat that you can do this.

Well, I do agree with you. I am doing exactly the same thing as you are doing now. I promote my blogs and my websites on facebook and twitter too. Although it does not sound so professional, it is still a good way to get a number of views from my friends and my family.

I have to say that I never thought of using my Facebook for promoting my work. I mostly use it for communicating with friends and family.
I was wondering if you're able to give me some tips regarding Yahoo Voices?
I'm very interested in making a little income during school.
Best of luck!
