I do well with my diet I think but if I don't drink enough water then it is also not going to help. One way I cut out sugars is that I haven't drank sodas much for around 4 months or more. I will occasionally but not like I used to.

I got it my friend. I remember the saying that goes..."lots of ways if you like and likewise lots of reasons if you don't" it is true, if you want something you must find ways to get what you want but if you don't there are so many reasons why?..Health is Wealth we must find ways how to enjoy life to the fullest...Thanks for responding my dear friend..

Hi... I am on a strictly sugar-free diet. I was advised by a nutritionist around 20 years ago to do this I was feeling fatigued and getting various infections, and colds and sometimes flu. When I quit sugar I felt like a new person. My health improved as did my vitality and energy.
Since then I have done a lot of research on the problems with sugar, and found some very disturbing facts about it. It is no only addictive, but can lead to a huge variety of diseases.. Here is one of the most comprehensive articles on sugar that I have found - http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2010/04/20/sugar-dangers.aspx - This is not an affiliate link, but well worth looking at in my opinion. _Derek

Eating rice for me is okay as I want to build muscle I really need sufficient amounts of carbohydrates, protein, and fats for me to build muscle. Exercising I think is enough to compensate for the things that we eat, but it should not be an excuse for us to indulge our selves with unhealthy and unbalanced foods. Ofcourse once a week of moderate amounts of some burgers, ice cream, and other fattening foods are okay, we need it also to somehow satisfy our cravings. Control of oneself is really key if we want to be as healthy as possible

I agree with that my friend...knowing all the right foods is useless if you don't have the will to really do it with determination and self discipline.. thanks for responding my friend..

For healthy eating, carbohydrates are like any other food group, they are alright if eaten in moderation. Carbs are not the 'devil food' that so many people think, they are important as they provide the body with the fuel that it it needs for physical activity and for proper organ function, and they are an important part of a healthy diet. However they should, as with everything be taken in moderation and it is important to remember that some kinds of carbohydrates are far better than others. For a healthy diet we should always choose whole grains (the less processed, the better), vegetables, fruits and beans—since they are an aid to our good health as they provide vitamins, minerals, fibre and phytonutrients. The more dangerous carbs are the ones that are easily digested refined carbohydrates from refined grains—white bread, white rice, and the like— as well as pastries, sugared drinks, and other highly processed foods, all of these will these can contribute to weight gain, and even cause diabetes and heart disease. I think I have managed to get my carb intake right now, I always have some carbs with each meal but try to make the mose sensible and healthy choices.

Me and my husband are cookies and cake lovers but it's been two years since we made commitment to make a better choice of what we eat. Now we only eat cookies no more than once every two weeks and cake once a month. We replace our snack with fresh fruits and it makes us feel good about ourselves. At least this is our small effort to live healthy and stay healthy too.

Hi Mobhomeir, i am also a rice-eating people. But, i tried not to consume too much rice since my parents have hypertension and diabetic problems. Even i had started to cut-down my sugar intake as well. I even cut-down the salt intake in my home, too. I tried my best to have a balanced meal as much as possible. Although sometimes we are tempted to have a few meals of fast food but i make sure to balanced it out with the intake of fruits or veggies. Hopefully, i can stay healthy as much as possible.

Rice is a big thing in the Puerto Rican culture and I totally love it. That is why alot of puerto ricans have diabeties. However, I try to eat it in small portions and never have seconds. I also watch everything I eat making sure I eat a balanced diet. Diabetes is a very dangerous disease and I really don't want to end up with it. In fact I use to put sugar in my tea and now I only put either lemon juice and honey or just the lemon juice. I eat fish at least twice a week with veggies. I don't eat white breads only rye or pumpkernickle bread, and thats not even everyday. I don't eat beef and I usually eat at least two pieces of fruits along with veggies each day. I also try not to eat anything after 8pm. So I truly think I have managed my intake of carbs and sugar just by watching my intake of the bad things and just eating good healthy foods.

Ya of course eating determines our food and health habits and we must keep ourself restricted to normal diet to be on the safer diet.if we eat too much of gas items it will create unnecessary digestion problems and later leading to obesity and so many risks.
But nowadays people prefer only carbo foods with high proteins and the quantity of sugar intake is quite less for sure before i never use to bother about the amount of these contents.but after a period of time i am in a position to think about this and work towards it very properly to have a healthy diet

Yes..younger people are not particular on health awareness since they think they are far from becoming sickly, if they born strong and healthy. They only realize that health is wealth when they started to feel unusual on their body which happens usually this new generation. thanks for responding my friend..

I'm trying to go mostly raw about 90% to 95% raw, but I eat jasmine rice sometimes with my sauteed greens. Do you think Jasmine rice is bad too?
