I have gained a few pounds around my stomach and sides, and this is attributed to over eating. Apparently. I am not fat or even really over weight by any means. I am slim, curvy but slim. But I wanted to know what was causing this small but noticeable weight gain, only it certain parts of my body [sides and stomach].
I read a few bits and bobs about where my weight gain was, and the causes of this type of weight gain while someone still stays slim, and it is over eating – but not just stuffing your face. No, it is eating of the wrong foods, or at the wrong time.
I have a tendency to skip breakfast so my body goes into starvation mode, and starts hoarding the food I do it that day, as it knows it will not get food for a long time. Then whatever I eat, whether it be fatty, non fat, healthy, not healthy, but body takes every tiny little ounce it can from it and keeps it, so therefore I end up not burning it off.
I had no idea not eating breakfast could cause this!
The information I found actually showed that by me eating breakfast, and eating exactly the same food the remainder of the day as I would the day I skip breakfast, I can actually LOOSE weight!
Imagine that, eating makes you loose weight.
What do you think of this?

You are so right! There is an old saying in the UK "breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper"
So many people do not eat breakfast but they really should After a long period without eating a persons blood sugar levels will be low and so eating breakfast is very important and can actually help you lose weight by kick-starting your metabolism. If you skip breakfast it can mean your body will start to crave something sweet and you'll end up snacking on unhealthy foods. I have lost 110 pounds over the last year and I have found that if you start the day with a filling and nutritious meal you will not only give your metabolism a kickstart but you'll feel full until lunchtime with no temptation to snack your way through the morning.
Some studies have also shown that eating breakfast with protein and carbohydrates can make you more alert and assertive to face the day.
If you are someone who 'can't' eat breakfast you should really try to overcome the reasons not to have breakfast and make it part of your day.
If you're too busy in the morning, prepare as much as you can the night before.
If you can't stomach anything first thing try a little fruit until a little later.
Get into the habit of trying different dishes at breakfast and enjoy it!

Cereal or oats makes a very easy, quick and nutritious breakfast. However I prefer something cooked like a boiled egg or poached or scrambled eggs on toast. If you don't have a lot of time a good bowl of fresh fruit with some low fat yogurt on will boost your metabolism and get you off to a good start.

Thanks this has really helped. I managed saturday, sunday and monday with breakfast and couldn't quite manage it yesterday and today as I felt a little ill when I tried to eat the breakfast. However I did have something at 10.30.
Can you recommend anything to eat thats healthy, filling, and could help me to eat breakfast?

I'm like you where I have a bit of fat on my stomache, sides and a bit on my thighs as well but I don't skip breakfast because I know it's the most important meal of the day to get your body up and running. Like you said starving yourself your body will go into that survival mode and store fat which is annoying but useful. So eat as often as you can and eat smaller portions. Of course eating the right type of food during the day will help with that too and drink plenty of water

I wasn't getting enough water and I knwo you are supposed to drink 8 medium glasses a day, but it is a struggle because I would have drank 1 if even.. I'm sort of up to 5 now, and I have 5 cups of tea or coffee a day [which I looked up and it's a normal, average and safe amount to drink, and the water partly goes towards your water in take, so for every 5 cups of tea/coffee I drink a day, thats 2.5 glasses of water - so I suppose I'm actually up to 7.5 glasses a day lol!]
You seem to know a lot about your health! Are you very health conscience?

Oh me too I don't drink as much water as I should but I drink 2-4 cups of tea. I cut back on coffee and only drink it when I go out to the cafes because they make good coffee
I think you are doing better than me with the water drinking. If you are ever bored with the flavour you can add a bit of lemon or lime juice. I've got that at the moment but I think I put too much as I make sour faces
Well I read up on a lot of different things. I knew for a while that breakfast was the most important meal to start the day and I know eating smaller portions often rather than 3 big meals is better for you. The green tea I read up on only a few months back. Basically I like to read and learn what the different foods, herbs and spices do for your body.
In this day and age I do have a hard time to stick to all the good foods we should be eating so in a way I am health conscience but sometimes I don't stick with things that I should

I would suggest you to have healthy diet if you want to lose weight. I think it is not good to skip the breakfast. Breakfast is the meal that gives strength for us throughout the day. I would suggest lesser amount of food in smaller amounts, but larger times to be healthy and to lose weight.
