Yesterday she's asking me if where to buy breed cats here in my town. I was surprised to her question it seems she want to have a cat pet. I don't have any idea if we have shops here selling breed cats. I only saw dogs that are normally sell here and sometimes I saw in online shops. I just teased her to call the cat outside and adopt . And even if we have a shop here to buy a new breed cat I will not allow her. I love cats too but it is not time for us to have one since I don't want Odie fight to the cat. He think cat is not his playmate and I know it is the beginning of a war here in my house.

Yehey, thanks dear, but that's the main problem Odie does not like them. He chase cats who go inside our gate. Also I'm not sure if my daughter will be responsible taking good care of the kitten I'm sure I will be the one who will in charge of it if she's busy on her school.

Everywhere there are wonderful stray cats who would love a home and lots of families have cats that unexpectedly produce kittens that they cannot keep and have to find homes for, so I don't see why anybody needs to buy a cat. But as you suggest, people ought to be very careful not to adopt a cat if they have other animals that might not be cat friendly or if they do not have the time and space and means to provide love and food and care for the cat. Our friend has spend hundreds of dollars on her cat lately because it needed to go to the veterinarian for different expensive things. That is something to think of too.

first, tell her that the ONLY kind of cat she can have is a rescue cat and ONLY after Odie is gone (hopefully many, MANY years from now.)
There are plenty of purebred cats in rescues, even certain rescues dedicated to certain breeds...

I don't think we have rescue cat center here but If I'm really ready I will ask bhabycatch to adopt one of her cat.

Well, who is the parent? Maybe you could get them interested in something else. Is Odie a dog? Sometimes they get along well with cats. Animals of any kind are alot of responsibility. How about a gervil or a mouse? Even a rat? I guess a kid does need a playmate and some just have different ideas of what that should be.

Me hehehe, I know my daughter only wants to have but I don't think she is responsible to be a parent. Yes Odie is a dog he did not grew up with cats around that's why he is not used to see them near him. He chases cats that go inside our fence. She has a hamster before I bought a cage and a toy but when the classes start she almost neglect it and I was the one who took care even cleaning the cage. I just give it to my niece because I can't handle it anymore.

It shouldn't be your responsibility when you got it for her.

I don't like pets at all. I think it is too troublesome and I have no time to take care of them. Also my mother will not permit.

That is right don't take any pets if you can't handle it. I hate those people who loves to have a pet but don't know how to take good care of them. Not all people are pet lovers.

Do you have animal shelters near you? I would recommend getting a cat there. Cats sold in shops often have a lot of problems, and come from places that should be shut down. And if you get a cat from a shelter, you are assured to get a cat that is already fixed, plus has all their current shots.

I don't think we have a cat shelter here since normally we have here are domestic cats that you can pick outside the street they are almost everywhere. I know many dog shops but I don't think if they sell pure breed cats too.

she really should get a cat from adoption. some of them are pure breeds that someone just couldnt keep and they will be killed if no one takes them. is that your mom or a room mate?

CAts take a real committment on the part o the whole family, they require daily care and are sure to spread hair and scratch where you don't want them. So until everyone can agree please don't get a cat, you will not be doing the cat a favor tking it into a divided house/

I used to have a cat when I'm still young I grew up and we have lots of them. But way back we have a big yard and they are all secured. That's why I'm not in favor with my daughter now to have a cat here in my house because she is not yet responsible to have one she's still studying and busy.

I don't think it's a good idea either if Odie is not used to have cats around.
They won't get along together for sure.
Maybe you can tell your daughter to have other pets aside from cat or else she will have problem with dog and cat war -hehehe

Well, we brought our first cat into the house about two and a half years ago and we actually did already have pet dogs in the house and it was something that I was apprehensive about. However, it has actually been a lovely relationship between the dogs and cats in our home.
With that said, we would never adopt a cat from a breeder. The cats that we have right now, one of them was adopted from our local humane society and the other was given to me from a friend of mine. I prefer pets that come from the humane society personally.

I once saw a cat in a pet shop. The price? oh! its P4,000! too high for a cat. See my cat in my picture? I just asked that cat... pure white. He plays with my hamster...
