Have you ever had a clingy SO (Girlfriend, boyfriend)? How do you deal with it?

All of you attached people out there. Have you ever had to deal with a SO (significant other) that was very attached to you. Like a control freak? For me, it was a GF that had to know wherever i was going and with who. Sometimes she happens to know that im not at home, and text me sarcastic stuff like 'Enjoy your time with your friends' or 'It's okay since you didn't want me to know'. There were times when i told her i got to have my own side of my life too but all she did was cry and saying i have changed. Geez! like cut the umbilical cord already (I know this doesn't make sense with a gf) So How did you deal with it?
