Another lost summer

Hello friends. I don't know what is the season where you are, but here where I am is summer. It's very hot and very heavy weather, having in mind that we don't have very good air condition, only a small fan that rolls around the hot air.
I thought this summer we will be able to visit some interesting place, like probably some waterfalls, which we have here in Bulgaria, or a holiday near the sea. Not really a long vacation with large plans and budget, just something modest without cell phones and computers, TV's and others. But the summer didn't started very well. In June all started to be promising for good earnings and many travels all over the country at least for a day or two, staying somewhere just to make photos and take a good portion of sleep, but it didn't continue the way we wanted it ...
Few travels because of health issues and fixing them, but nothing else.
I guess we will have another lost summer and we haven't been on a holiday at all.

We rarely go for holidays. I can count in a year how many times we all the family go for vacation. But I feel grateful even if we just have one or two times went to some place together in just a short time but at least we still do it than nothing at all. Maybe you could plan a year ahead for your next summer so you can make early preparation.(^^)(^^)

Hi Suggar
That is sad. You dont have much happening during vaccations, but I guess there are still some days left and you can at least plan out something in the short time.
For me, I dont remember when it was vacation. Each year there is travel no doubt, but to a distant town for my medical examinations. 2 days to go and 2 to return - so 4 days in train and travel and 2 days at the hospital and one day for the reports. Over time, I have lost interest in travelling by train and this year is seemed that I was more unwilling.
Even today, my wife is at a different city - she has got posted at another city as a teacher - and I am all alone at this place. I want to go to her, but then it is a very small town with very limited medical facilities. So she is a little unwilling to let me stay with her

I understand this dear, I too see the similar things in my wife's eyes sometimes though. I have asked her to go anywhere she wants like. And I do ensure that at least she goes to stay somedays with her parents (my inlaws) who are in a different city 400 kms from here or even to her sister's family (some 600 kms away) and stay with them for at least 4-7 days. I know this cuts down the time she can have for me, but then I do want her to enjoy. I know she will not go all alone to a new place.

You are so so so very nice person, Sid. So good hearth.
My boyfriend always tells me to find people and leave home with them. I mean my own friends, but it is not that easy for me. I guess if I was leaving home for little more interesting things than shopping before cooking and so on it would be much different, but ...

Hello Suggar. In my home country it is July and today has been an unusual for at the moment sunny and warm. I even needed to put my sunglasses on. The rest of the summer days have been windy, wet and cool. So much rain happened in June and it was awful. My birthday was in early July and it felt more like winter with rain and cool weather. I went to a spa and had a wonderful time. I was in the warm spa water and saw the rain come down. It was dry when I was in the water in the open air on the open roof floor. I did a day out each mount in 2011. 2012 has not been as nice as happy 2011. I will be traveling to Cornwall for one week on Saturday with my kids. I wonder what the weather will be like. Good luck to you this summer. I had my main trip at Easter time and this summer will have few travels for me too.

Hello Maximax, happy birthday to you, even little bit later than it was actually! Be healthy and very happy, still traveling all over the world, seeing new people, new places and God bless you!
I actually love rains. Well, we had them too much at June, probably two weeks only rains, every day and it was little boring, we couldn't move out of home, because it was raining all the time, but now I would love little cooler weather and rain instead of what it is now.

Hi Suggar,
Sorry to hear about health issues. I haven't been able to travel for a little vacation for a long time because of differing work schedules amongst us all and also finances just don't allow it. Cheer up. The summer can still be enjoyed without going far from home at all. We do little day trips. It's not the same, of course but it's still fun. For example, we will all get together and go to the beach for a day. It's only two hours away but it's cheap and it's fun. We pack up our own food and we do bring cell phones but only in case of emergency. We leave really early in the morning and are usually the first on the beach.
Sometimes we just all get together and have a big barbecue and camp out at whoever's house the barbecue is at. We all chip in for food and drink and just have a great time.

Hello Sid, I am very glad to see you.
You are right for the smaller plans and when I say smaller I mean actually shorter.
Last summer started like the one now, we had to move out of the last place where we lived, found a new flat to live on rent again. But at the end of the summer, around the end of August and the start of September came our time to enjoy. We had the chance to make good money, bought many things for the new flat, mostly things we needed to live with, but we could make parties with our friends, even went to the beach in the late summer, because it was warm til the start of the autumn.
Last summer we didn't travel or made a holiday, but at least had better chances to meet with friends and feel the life not that tight around our necks as it is now.

Hey Lorden, it is a funny thing, but I am afraid of drowning. I have always lived near the sea. My family lives near the sea. I remember when I was kid it was so much fun, but I have memories now that I had bad experience in the past. Mom is always saying that I never had this situations when I was close to drowning, but it is in my mind to be extra careful and I never enter the water that much. I just can't feel calm when I am deeper.
Now I live in sea city again. It's ironic that I can't swim, but this fear I have doesn't allow me to feel good even on the beach.
You know, when you don't have something you want it the most - I would love to live in the mountains, clean air, calmness.

It's supposed to be already rainy season here in the Philippines but it is still so hot it still feels like summer. We have rain showers every now and then because of a passing typhoon or other rain-causing weather conditions. Anyway, I do hope you still get to do some of the things that you have planned for summer. I understand you completely. I made a lot of travel plans, too not just for summer but for the rest of the year and most of them went down the drain because of unexpected financial and personal problems. I'm still working on solving on them, though. I guess, it can't be helped.Even the best-laid plans could still be derailed. I've learned that a long time ago so now I always make a backup plan for every plan I make. This way, I still get to go somewhere even if it wasn't really the destination I had in mind.

I don't make plans since very long time, because I know every time I plan whatever unexpected things ruin it. And then I feel sooo disappointed that I don't want more of this bad feelings, when things doesn't happen the way i wanted them.
But still I feel sorry about it, because it is not something that hard to leave the town for 2-3 days and have some fun away of jobs and everything else we are responsible for.
I think i screwed in managing all of the things, because when everything got better in June, I just had to continue making it even better than just good, but instead I took a rest and now we got the bad result.

I guess everybody feels really bad whenever unexpected things ruin their plans. I feel disappointed for like days.
Since you have already realized that you made some wrong decisions on how you handle things, then may be next time, you can do a better job out of it.
I never get tired of making plans because those plans give me something to look forward to especially when I feel tired and down. I have just learned how to deal with disappointments when things don't go my way and I know that there are times that they really don't go my way. It's how life goes.

We are having a very hot summer here as well. The temperatures have been over 100 for weeks. The hottest days so fare reach 107. We are having to find a lot of indoor activities for the kids.

It is very definitely summer here. The mercury has been giving us daily reminders of that.
I wouldn't say that your summer has been lost. Take this as an opportunity to explore the region in which you live. Take a staycation, as we Americans call it. Switch off the computer and the phones and go explore the great things that your area has to offer.

Sounds as a great idea, but unfortunately it's very hot. And because we live near the sea the humidity is terrible, over 50% which makes the air like it doesn't exist or at least doesn't move ...
Every day I wake up with a plan that I will visit the sea garden or a Mall near me just to walk a bit and spend some private time, but the heat is killing me

I'm having a "lost summer" here too. My mom's in cosmetology school right now, and she only gets off for summer vacation for two weeks. Not much time to do any travelling (and we don't really have the money to travel anyway). On top of that, I'm pregnant, so we can't do any theme parks, water parks, or roller-coasters in general.
Pretty sure we might be making a small trip up to Ohio to visit the Amish Country (one of my grandmother's favorite places to visit in the summer), but those plans might fall through at any moment if my sister (a 911 operator) should have to go into work on her vacation.

yes it becomes terrible to move out of your house during summers due to the scorching heat. The best way to avoid such heat is by either moving out to a cooler place by arranging a family trip or else by staying indoors and indulging in some fun filled activities that would divert your mind away from the terrible heat. What say?
