As some of you may be aware the Olympics are now only a few days away.
Here in the UK it is being highly debated about who is going to light the Olympic Flame.
So far two names have been put forward they are Daley Thompson a former decathlete who won a gold medal at the 1980 and the 1984 games.
Or Steve Redgrave who has five Golds in five successive Olympic Games from 1984 to 2000.
Who would you chose out of them two or would you go for someone completely different?

Just going by pure performance, if some one has won 5 golds in 5 successive Olympics than that person definitely should get the honor. BTW, which sport does Steve Redgrave participate in as the name does not ring a bell for me.
Here in India there was a huge debate on who should hold the national flag during the parade and it was finally settled last week. Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar will get the honor.
Cheers!

I have to agree I do think Steve Redgrave is a good choice but we have to wait and see as they are not telling us who is going to light it until the actual ceremony.
Steve Redgrave is a rower.

I would choose Eddie the eagle to light the olympic the olympic flame in my opinion he represents what the olympics should be about. Its a shame new rules have means it is virtually impossible for another amateur like that to compete at the olympics.I think if a country hasn't got any athletes who are world class they should be able to send the best person they have got,its the underdogs that the public take to their heart.

Eddie the Eagle use to train at our local ski centre in my home town (where I still live) so it would be good to see him do it.
I have to agree it would be good to see some underdogs being able to take part but unfortunately don't think that is going to happen any time soon which is a shame.
