It Seems I am a Vain Dreamer, LOL

Yesterday I posted a question asking people how they look on their own dreams. Most did not recall seeing themselves in their dreams. I not only sometimes see myself, but I often dream I am looking in to mirrors. In many of my dreams I am my younger self as well. So it appears that my dreams are more vain than most people's. I just find it kind of funny. At least I am not looking at my current self in the mirror but I am looking at a me that I still wish that I was, that is probably why I often look in mirrors in my dreams. I am an extremely vivid dreamer. Any thoughts?

I don't believe that dreams "mean" anything, or have any subconscious symbols or hoo-ha like that. I would say, that I dream about being younger pretty often (back in elementary school or high school) and I hear a number of people sometimes decades away from their school years dream about being young again. I think maybe when you see yourself in your dreams as your younger self, it might be for the same reason. It's said that the brain is sorting through memories while we sleep, and memories from our youth are our oldest, so it would make sense to me that we could possibly dream about being young again often.
I'm a vivid dreamer myself. I'd even call myself an adventurous dreamer because I often have dreams with complicated plots that involve things of an unrealistic nature.

I have dreams like that too. I have woke up from dreams from time to time and would lay in bead trying to figure out what I would do if that had happened to me in real life, and I go over all kinds of scenarios in my head. I don't like it when something in my dreams gets the best of me, so I have find a solution in my head, this will of course be in a hazy half a sleep state, but sometimes I can't let things go that happen in my dreams.

lol that's interesting. I usually say to myself, "Wow that was a cool dream!", write it down, and then go about my daily life. I can't recall a dream that I thought of as getting the best of me though.

I may not classify dreams as good dreams or bad dreams. we always dream based what we expect from others and what we want to do to others. if that is good dream also will be good. after seeing a horror movie mostly we will get bad dreams. that is why it is said one should not watch TV at least for 30 minutes before going to bed.

I agree, my husband has no problem watching a horror film and going to sleep. I will never do that because I know it will factor in to my dreams somewhere, I don't watch horror films very often these days but if I do have to watch something light for a while before I go to sleep to try and push the bad movie out of my head. I used to like to read romance novels before bed because I would often have romantic dreams after doing so.

I don't recall seeing myself in mirrors in my dreams. I do see myself in my dreams, usually being chased, or lost in a building...or with some person I would never figure myself to be with.
I dream a lot about houses too...either my dream house, or having to live in a shack.
I find my dreams to be strange, but for the most part I don't remember them by the time I get out of bed and get to the living room.

I also dream a lot about houses, usually they are houses that are kind of unusual or bigger than they appear from the outside, they have secret rooms and things like that. It is funny we have lived in the same house for 16 years and I have no desire to move but in my dreams we are always moving to new homes or staying in hotels. I do enjoy staying in hotels in real life, but I don't know what the whole house thing is about.

I don't think dreaming about looking in mirrors neccessarily means that you are vain,if you wore vain i think you would either look like you do know due to your own opinion if your attractiveness or you would look how you wish to look.I think seeing a younger version of yourself is more about wanting to more like how you were then. This dosent mean you want to look like that again your image probably just represents you as the person you were then.Though i may be completely wrong that's what i guess your dreams meant i think dreams would be about something deeper than physical attractiveness

Vivid dream at least in my case generally mean something. I either find out it is something to come, a answer I was looking for, or a way for my mind to rething things through with a better response to what needed to be done. Rarely do I get those nightmares I use to get as a child which makes sleeping much more pleasent.

I seem to dream more in movie format than anything. Not watching, but an actor's view. I very rarely dream in the third person observing myself, but rather from the first person either as myself or as another character with myself not appearing at all. I'd prefer if I dreamt about myself more, honestly. But that doesn't stop it from being interesting! For example, last night I had a dream based on one of the songs I had on my playlist, Stan by Eminem.

yep dreams can be wishful thinking,
you could be wishing you were younger or even wishing about times when life was easier for you, you were younger and stronger and so on.
