Do you ever feel like you will never get your money's worth out of a movie?

I used to enjoy seeing movies at home, at the theater, ect. However the last few years I feel that movies just are not as good as they used to be. Even if I see a movie for free, I feel like I should be doing something else with my time, anyone else feel this way?

There are movies that certainly aren't worth the time and effort so what I usually do is search its reviews first before deciding to watch them on the cinema. I hear The Amazing Spider-Man is good.
I did like The Avengers and it was definitely well worth my money. I think making it a point to checking the reviews first from a reliable site can save you a lot when it comes to making this decision.
Do you check reviews before deciding on spending on a movie ticket?

i usually did what "haopee" been doing. check online review. there were many online reviews out there for movies. at that site, there are peoples comment. i usually go online review when i watched 3D movies. checking people review on how was it in 3D only decide 3D ticket instead of normal ticket.
Avenger i watched, what do you suggest The Amazing Spiderman 3D or 2D ?

I do read reviews, but even reviews of "great" movies are always mixed. There is always something: bad acting, weak story lines, ect. Since I wear contacts, I'm not a huge fan of 3D. The only 3D that every seems to work for me is Disney 3D.
We did see the Avengers and it was okay. If another director had made the movie, it would have been a total flop.
We took my daughter to see Brave and a lot of parents raved about it. I was totally unimpressed by the movie and felt like it could have been so much more.

Oh G-d Yes! all that is out are so called blockbusters, not funny unromantic romantic comedies , and horror films! None of these will I waste me time with. there used to be more of a variety. Now I resee the classics I love. Thankfully I own most of them!

I felt that way when I started working and earning on my own. It was only then that I realized that there are pretty much important things than wasting time sitting for 2 hours more or less just watching something for nothing

hello,
What you said above is true sometimes. Sometimes after coming out of a movie theatre I feel like I have wasted my money. Because some movies are so bad, that I feel awful after spending so much money. But sometimes it is just the opposite. The movie turns out so good, that I feel its worth every penny. I also feel like going into theatres once again without thinking about a movie. I feel scared before watching a movie, whether it will be worth the money or not. We should always check out the reviews before going to the theatres.

Movies have actually gotten much better then they used to be. A perfect example is a movie like Citizen Kane. Easily called one of the greatest movies of all time, it was a leader in visuals, that changed the world of film making, forever. However, watch that movie now, and it's boring as hell. The same goes with the majority of movies. A movie from decades ago does not hold up, nowadays. Don't believe me? Watch movies from the decade of the movies you truly loved. Every year has about 5-10 movies that will really make an impact on you, but hundreds to thousands of movies will come out.
Personally, I love movies. I go to the theatre about once or twice a month, and see bunches of movies at home. I'm always going to love movies. At the same time, I do video work, so the images of these movies really make an impact on me. I guess it's not for everybody, but its something I really love.

I often feel the same way, although I think it might have just as much to do with the actual prices at the movie theaters as it does with the movies themselves. There are certain movies that are just not worth my time, but at the same time there are movies that I do not believe will be worth it and they end up being worth it. Either that or I have made a way to make the price of the movie lesser for me (either at a discount theater or by seeing an early show that is cheaper).
Overall if the movie is entertaining I feel as though I have gotten my money's worth. I am also pretty selective with the movies that I actually go see in the theaters so I think that makes it more worth my while.

You are not alone... I used to enjoy movies too but then when I turn 20 years older, my hobbies change and my wants define another activities that is truly enjoyable for me. As we grow older and we became more mature, our hobbies likes and wants changes as well as our needs so that means you are growing up and growing up good hehehe !! kudos!!!

I think movies were so much better in the past, in the 80's one movie was different from another, of course there were trending topics like cyborgs, other times were ghosts so a bunch of ghost movies were out, but nowadays there are so many bad actors, the plot is weak and I prefer reading amateur writers writing short stories, fanfics online. I don't go to the movies since Lord of the Rings, the last good movie I wanted to watch.

I like seeing movies but don't like doing it alone. I always invite many of my friends to my home or the theater together, we will prepare a lot of snacks and discuss the action after the movie closing. Maybe the latest films can not absorb you but the action made you feel boring, I usually regret that I should see a film as it is really stupid.

Yes I ofen feel the same way with you,the movie nowadays is so boring and I just feel that they waste my time,so now I will choose the movies which I like the actor or actress very much and just ignore the storyline, lol.
But actually,I still looking forward to the movie with wonderful plot, though it is rare in nowadays.

yep, I do sometimes. There's this one movie from a singer turned actress that seems so great on the trailers. When we get to the movie houses, my higher self warned me that I haven't researched and asked some people about the movie but I just shrugged it. We ended up getting so bored, that even my husband fell asleep halfway thru lol!
Seems like they're running out of fresh plots?
