How important it is to have "connections" in getting a good job?

My husband and I talked about getting a new job when we move to another city.
We discussed about the people whom his parents know and maybe they can help us get into a job. But, I actually don't like this kind of thing. I am used to getting a job on my own.
In your idea, is it important to have connections?Do you know any people who got jobs they didn't deserve just because they had connections?

did you know the mayor? well that's the common questions raise by some of our neighbors in the province.they tend to ask if who knows the people in the government for they need help.Help in what?help for their children in getting to have a job.For me it is not wrong as long as you know that you are deserving to have that possession.
however in this situation, it creates inequality among the citizens. It now apply the saying telling to whom you know which simply means that you can seek help if you are near to the person in position.
If you will be the person affected by that inequalities, what would you feel?

It's the same here in my place especially if you want to work in any government office. "whom you know" is a common thing in getting a good position. But there are also people who deserve and who has the right qualification for a certain job. Some are not and that's so frustrating.

yes it's kinda important to have connections so that you can get a job easily, but at some point it is better to look for a job with your own efforts,That way you'll know what skills you really possesses.Sometimes having connections makes you feel guilty because you'll realize that it is not the job that you really want.

I don't like the idea either, not because I am too boastful.
but sometimes it is a great feeling when we achieve something from our own deeds and not because someone is there who did it for us.
Maybe you can still apply for a job without using any connection from any people.
Give it a try first before asking help from others.

This idea came out because of the experiences of others. Sometimes it is true most particularly in government agencies. But personally, I can say that I got my present job because I really deserve it. There maybe times that we are not given the chance to get the job but this should not be the reason for us to give up. There is and there will always be a right job for us. Good luck!
