A don't know what to call it,But this thing is really freaky. One of my Mylotter friend used the word Diktat in one of his posts. At first thought,it would have been a spelling mistake,he might have misspelled the word dictate. He is a very good writer,so it was hard to believe that he could make such a silly mistake. So I referred the dictionary and found out its meaning.I was very happy to have learned a new word. From then on,this word is haunting me.Where ever I go,I am hearing this word,in Tv programs,in youtube,in books everywhere.I might have heard/seen this word a 1000 times after that. But the real shocker was when my sister asked me "the meaning of Diktat?" this evening. I had never heard this word before, now all of a sudden its raining on me.Whats happening to me? Have you been through something like this?

Well, although I absolutely did not know the meaning of that word (I still look on the internet!), And whatever that might mean, what you do not understand is why, this time you was so scared! I could understand that if your friend Mylotters had written something blasphemous! In this case I would obviously agree with you. But how can you be scared only by the word "Diktat"? PS: Anyway, now I'm going to immediately look up the meaning on the net!

I have heard of this word. But I cannot remember the meaning immediately. I checked up the online dictionary and it gives the meaning as diktat -an order which must be obeyed, or when you give such an order The coach issued a diktat that all team members must attend early-morning practice. The occupying force ruled by diktat. anyhow thanks to garavegeta for introducing a new word. good day.

Hi garavegeta,it was me who had used the word while having an exchange of comments on one of your posts.I had come across the word when I was going through an article by the famous economist Gurumurthy on FDI [Foreign Direct Investment] in a newspaper.I too thought the word was wrongly spelled. So I consulted the dictionary and found that the writer was right.Actually it is 'dictate',which means 'saying someone what he should or can do or should not or cannot do.''Diktat' means what you are dictating to someone.A diktat is like an order that is supposed to be carried out.

'An order which must be obeyed' means 'to force someone to do what you want him to.'The examples you have given here are right. Here I am going to give an example of the usage of the word,'The rebels call shots in the area.Their diktate prevails there.'Is it correct?

Hey garavegeta! What's happening to you is very much normal. I can tell you that you had been hearing this word even before you read it at your friends' post but only then you were not aware of it and it didn't seem important. Then when you read it at your friends' post, you got curious and searched for its meaning. Well, since the word itself is unusual to you, your mind/brain is still wondering about it trying to make associations and therefore making it easy for you to hear it whenever mentioned. This word is not following to you, it's you who is thinking about it and therefore attracting it. Whatever you think about repeatedly, you bring about. Thoughts have power. You might say you haven't given much thought to this word, but then how mysterious the brain works, it could have made a connection btn this word and your most repeated thoughts and therefore making this word important to you without any of your effort. Not watching tv is not gonna make it go away, if you are still thinking about it.

Hello Muju Sir!! You scared me even more. I think you are right.I may have heard it all along but may have never thought about it.Now that I have found out the meaning, the word became more familiar to me,now my mind is automatically diktating that word. My thought can influence the physical world?,its kind of creepy to know that.

Sure, but I too was unfamiliar with that word. Things do seem to happen in cycles, though, and it should not be scary.

I notice this phenomenon in my life all the time. It never fails that I will never see a certain type of car until I buy one myself. So if I buy a small white pickup truck soon every body else in town will be driving small white pickup trucks.

I have a special relation with words as I´m a writer in my native language. And all the time I have that experience. Each time I learn a new word (and it seems to me that it must be very rare as I had never heard of it before), from then on I keep hearing and reading it and it eems everyone know it from the cradle, exept by myself. All this is in pàrt because you understand a sentence not word by word but grasp a meaning.
