If it is not intentional it is just okay.

Meanie! ;) just kidding! We are allowed at least a couple of lapses in a month, don't sweat it. I know it isn't fair for the driver but hey, I'm sure you didn't intend for that happen right?
Now if you keep on forgetting to pay your fare, I suggest you seek a specialist for memory gaps and all that stuff. ( just messing up with you, buddy)
Have a nice day!

No, certainly you are not. As you said it was not intentional. You just forgot to pay so how could you be liable. I myself experienced that same forgetfulness twice. I only got to know I did not pay the fare after noticing that my coins were still on my hands and that was after I stepped out of the jeepney. So now to avoid this, I pay all at once. As soon as I stepped inside the jeep, I'd pay the driver to avoid forgetting this important thing again.

No, don;t you take it in a bad sense or anything. You didn't do anything wrong as it was unintentional. Anything which has been done unintentionally or without being aware of it isn't wrong it is just a plain mistake that anyone could have made.So its all cool.
