Television: something which I have started hating.

Considering all the benefits of its telecast, including upcoming Olympics, I am not able to stop myself hating this idiot box because of some of its content. One of them brings a social topic into discussion on each Sunday. This time the theme was all about kids not respecting their parents. I do not know what the hell were they showing, and where did they collect it from, but we are not the kind of kids they were focusing upon. The bad part is our parents tend to believe all these and think that in future we may also disrespect them. IT IS COMPLETE BRAINWASH. TV which was said to brainwash a innocent child, is, now actually fooling our parents, and to some extent against us. Some shows bring a bad habit of a child in one episode, as for now it is alright, but in the very next episode they exaggerate it to an extent we may not even think of. It is becoming a big concern. Advice me what should I do?

I have always hated television for quite some reasons and on the other my love for the internet has been increasing overtime. It just feels so good have have control over from anything to everything available to watch online. I prefer the internet, who needs that idiot box when you got internet. My advice to you is just ignore it and turn it off.

Ankit, what I was trying to convey was nomatter you are interested in TVs on not, if your parents like watching these shows, you can't help. When we say a child is getting affected by what he sees on tv, in is understandable, but what I viewed the other day will sure affect the thinking of a parent (especially those who have son) as and when they see, definitely to some level. They may give birth to this idea somewhere at the back of their mind.

@rajanitishnaik - I don't get you when you say bring in a T.V. show like superman in this discussion. They are kids they like superman they like the idea of superman and if they believe that he will come save him then they should know he won't. I have been a kid too and i grew up watching stuff like these but i didn't rely on superman to save me. Its like Santa, kids believe that there is Santa Claus and comes on Christmas. It is just their childhood it will pass you know.

@Gautam1002 - Well Gautam1002 now i totally understand what you are trying to convey. Its the parents who get affected their thinking gets affected and that is true in every sense. But still you cannot blame the television for people to behave like this. People change because they want to change not because someone tells them to. As everyone has the freedom of choice you me everybody so people use it to choose what they and what they don't.Its not like they are made to watch a particular thing, they are not forced its their decision.People change because they want to change.

I have to say that in recent years television has portrayed both parents and children in a more negative light. Sad thing is, parents aren't as good as they used to be (too lenient not setting as good example), and children aren't as good as they used to be (more disrespectful). I totally agree they go to the extremes in demonstrating this though. Some of the ways they have teens act I have not seen any one do. I'm very disappointed in how family dynamics are portrayed nowadyas.

I am 19 years old Ambie. And I have seen some really astonishing shows criticizing teenagers and youngsters. I agree that kids at this age are highly pumped up and often argue with their parents but every home every story is different

May be you shouldn't be watching TV again, let this idiot box rot itself out in your stock room, and then place it among your junks for the sake of the dumpster. YOu don't have to live with its lies anymore and having to put up with it next time. Make sure you get rid of this eye sore immediately after this and right away.

Locking Tv in a storeroom was not the kind of solution I was looking for. I feel that parents are learned enough to decide what things they should focus upon and what things they must just omit hearing. anyone who is addicted to television should keep his mind open more than merely his eyes and ears. We can only blame TVs and act like escapist. We should concentrate more on correcting ourselves.
