Would you watch horror movies/serials etc alone at home?

First of all, I am too scared to watch horror flicks at all. Secondly, even if I do watch, I need somebody to be there with me because I would cover my face with my hands and peep through my fingers from time to time and I need somebody to tell me the proper story right? And lastly, I would never, ever ever in my life watch a horror movie alone. There are better things to be done than spend money and time on getting frightened and thinking about it for the next few weeks. What say? Any brave souls here who would dare to watch horror flicks alone at home? Especially at nights?

Yes, I would and do watch horror movies alone sometimes. I love it but I'm a fan of that genre of movies too. As for the getting frightened part, that's the fun part!

I have never met someone who loves getting frightened! Are you serious? I would rather spend my time looking at a wall than getting frightened. Horror movies are something I would rather not include in my life. Those memories are something I can do without.

The thrill, the sitting on the edge of the seat kind of movies are not for me. They make me a nervous wreck by the time the movie is over. I reserve that for my detective or murder mysteries which I read. I can get frightened in my own pace.

Abolutely! It's kind of a rush an exciting to have a movie put you on the edge of your seat in suspense and fright. You have to remind yourself that it's not real. Are there times when I'm looking away or the suspense ofte moment is too much? Definitely. I love horror movies though. And for the record, I don't enjoy being scared in real life.

I don't like to watch horror movie or story alone but I have experiences watching them alone in living room when everyone already sleep in their room. It not that I am not scared, I do feel scared but it just for certain movies only. Most of the horror movies I have watched I would say that they were not that horror. There are certain type of horror movies that I hate to watch and I would refused to watch it as much as I could. No way I will watch it even if someone with me~(^^)

The one that I will not watch at all is horror movies from Indonesia. I don't know. I just don't like their ghost. I am sure you dislike the ghost as well.(^^)

Hello devijay. It hasn't bothered me since I was a kid to watch horror movies alone. There aren't too many that are that scary. The Movies made from Steven King's book can be scary.

I do enjoy horror movies and it wouldn't bother me watching them alone...BUT not at night. Lol. During the day I would have no issues and I would forget about it by night time so I would sleep fine. I do not watch them before bed by myself though. My husband and I watch them together and with him there I am much less afraid...

Day or night, it is the same with me. Of course it is a lot better if it is day, but still my fright is the same.

i have often watched horror movies/serials at home alone but after few minutes i get afraid and tune into some other channel. I would rather love to watch it with some one there besides me as that would ensure me that i can scream properly and that person can help me calm down.

I am afraid to even start with the movie. You are much braver than me. Atleast you can start with the movie which I don't even think of.

I do not usually watch the horror type of films, maybe because it has something to do with our upbringing. Besides, horror films have scenes which are not-so-friendly and it might frighten my younger siblings. But then again, as we've gotten older and we've tried to watch the horror films every now and then. Although our mom still won't let us, until now. :) Anyway, there are times when these Japanese horror films were aired on a local TV network at a late-night time slot. The films, in particular were The Grudge, Ring-O: The Birthday, and the likes. I was all alone when I watched these kind of films. It was so because the rest of the family were already fast asleep then. I must admit, I had gotten terrified with some of the real horror scenes. I enjoyed watching those parts because those were what made the films somehow quite "unforgettable," for me at least. But that's it. I was able to go to sleep after seeing those films. And I am also looking forward to seeing more of these horror flicks, with or without companion.

My God! You should be truly brave to watch something like that without anyone. I would immediately switch off the tv or change the channel. I would never even want to watch. My parents too shout at me even now when I watch even a mild mystery. I seriously believe that whatever we watch gets stored in our brain and lets it out at some point as a dream. I would like to dream some pleasant ones, not horror and murder and stuff.

My mom's explanation with why she still prohibits us to watch the horror kind of movies is similar with your belief, that we might bring the scenes or the theme of the scenes in our dreams and might disturb our sleep, as well. I guess the lack of exposure to horror films worked out in a way that we won't easily get affected with the scenes we watched. It must also be mind over matter, because whenever I get to watch the horror films, I would usually have this idea at the back of my mind that these are all effects and graphics and such, and that if I let my imagination take over me then I would certainly get freaked out with the scenes of the film. I would like to watch some other scary flicks, but those with the decent story line. Not those that contain all gore and violence which seem to be made for the sake of grossing out on the audience.

I won’t. I do precisely what you are doing even for some simple stabbing and bloodshed. I hate violence of any sort except those mild ones in Rajini films.

I watch fight scenes. But I hate murder and rape and molestation is something I find revolting. It makes me feel very very angry and sad and helpless even though my mind says it is just a movie and they are acting it out. The incident stays in my mind for weeks. So, I always like to watch feel good, funny and romantic movies.

Most horror movies aren't actually scary, so I don't see a problem with watching them by myself--day or night. Of course, I generally only watch horror movies that could not happen--replete with vampires, werewolves, witches, etc. Fantasy violence doesn't bother me. I know that no army of zombies is going to tear apart my town; no coven of witches is going to open a portal to the netherworld. The real horror is what one finds on the evening news--a madman opening fire on movie goers, cousins being abducted from their sleepy little town, a school teacher abducted in front of her little boy and murdered. These are the real horrors.

Those news of tragedies and violence is something I hate reading or watching in the news channel. What you say is absolutely true. The movies which we watch hardly stay in our minds for a few days. Then we cease to get scared. But these news stays in our minds forever. If I read something of this sort, I become so sad that it hurts. Especially rape, murder and the like. Atrocities on women and children are the worst.

I used to watch horror movies when I was young. I usually watched them alone since most of the time, I was alone at home. But I quitted on this hobby when I couldn't sleep at night and I even had nightmares. I don't watch horror movies nowadays and I swear to myself that I will never ever watch them even with my friends.

I probably would not scare myself that way, but I get scared only when I watch one. The sound effects and the expressions on the actor's face make it even more terrible to watch.
