I was doing my caricature for my client for about 2 hours already, it was almost finished then suddenly there was a total black out!! I feel like screaming because I didn't expect for that power shutdown and I haven't save my work! I was so frustrated and I was so mad! So I just count from 1 to 20 to calm myself down. At least I was relieved. If you were in my situation, what will you do?

at least you only lost 1 file... When several power outage happened here in our city last March, my hard disk was the one got affected. It corrupted most of my files - from excel to word to powerpoint to pdf to emails! and the worst thing was, I was still on maternity leave at that time. My reliever does not have any idea which of my files were lost. I do not know if it is the power fluctuation that caused the damage or the negligence of my reliever. When I returned to work, it really seemed I started from scratch... Being away from work for 78 days after a cs operation is enough to make you forget some of the office issues. Records/Files should have helped me recall my pending responsibilities. I was really disappointed by that time. I do not where to start. It's just good that our IT dept recovered some, but not all. I spent my first month gathering information from my colleagues.
You are right... it is really frustrating to encounter such an unlikely incident...

If you are in a hurry and you are doing this kind of project from you personal computer and you know that there are occasional black outs in you area then you should learn your lesson try saving it from time to time so that you wont so much of your effort. Its better to anticipate all things that might happen.

Are blackouts common in your area? You should really invest in a UPS if you are using a PC. They are really worth the money.
I learned my lesson with power outages and I now have a UPS, and when it comes to a time when power outages are expected, I use the laptop if I can.
