I didn't know the person myself but a writer friend of mine used to sell avon and one of her customers had several cats. She asked my writer friend to give the cat a bath because she was elderly and not able to do it. The cat was old and smelly. She asked what the cat's name was and the women said it was a stray she never really gave him a name but she has had him for a while and she just calls him "Old fat bast-rd. Can you imagine taking the cat for a checkup and being asked what that cats name is? I broke out laughing. Any thoughts? Any strange names of animals that you know?

That's funny, I could only imagine the vets face if she took the cat in and told his name. I have heard too many bizarre animals names like that but I remember a friend of mine once had a dog name D.O.G and a cat named C.A.T which I always thought was a funny and lazy way to name your pets.

hi winterose how fu nny and I can just see the vet call out Old fat bas.t.a.r.d and the whole room laugh.years b ack when we had our own home we bought a mixed breed puppy at a swap meet. so"I named him Swap. Before this whenwe were still in tempe Arizona we bo ught a purebred dachhound bu t she w as too tall for showingv as a show dog bu t she had a puppy that w a also pure bred Dachhund and we named him Lucky. He was to be our show dog. oh yes. we moved to a rental house with our son and I was pregnant again.the puppy was in the back yard fenced in.b ut a swift moving irrigation canal was on the other side of the fence. a child,a boy maybe 5 came running to my kitchen door in tears."maam come quick, the big guys got your puppy and threw him in the canal" he was c rying"come quick before he drowns" turned out the big g uys were the sweet little bous brothers, their father ran out and helped m e to find my puppy lucky and he pulled him in but he was not breathing nor could we get him to breathe. My wonderful little puppy was drowned just because these high school kids wondered if the could swim. the father felt horrible and insisted on paying me the cost of the puppy but 300 dollars did not undo tgb but because we had lost my little pal Lucky. I never wanted another dog as it w as just too painful do not ever c all a pet lucky as it could be bad luck.

that is so awful. My mother's poodle cocoa got out of the house and kids throw rocks at his head until the poor dog was unconcious, by the time he was found and taken to the vet it was too late, the vet advised that the dog should be put down.

SHe could just use the initials. OFB! My grandmother always had some great names for her cats. SHe had a big, grey tom she named Battleship. She came home once from a trip to California to see her sister with a new cat she had name COIN. I asked why the odd name. She said it had been through California, Oregon, Idaho and Nevada. So with the first letter of each state she had come up with C.O.I.N. She was a foxxy ole bird my grandma. And Mark Lindsay had a black and white cat he named St. Thomas for the favorite vacation spot. My daughter's old black cat is named Sabbath. And our newer grey Maine Co.on cat is named Colbert after our favorite Maine Co.on cat Colby Conner. And it goes on and on. We are a family of cat lovers back four generations!

When I was younger, I would give my various pets some unusual names--named after places, for instance. However, I cannot imagine naming a cat something such as that. It was bad enough when my youngest still hadn't been named since she hadn't yet "told" me her name, and I took her in for shots; she was listed as "barn cat"--oh, a knife to my heart! The three cats I now have all have human names. The one is named after a vampire in a book series. The two girls have lovely feminine names. Each name seems perfectly suited to the bearer.

I named the boy Armand after the vampire from the Anne Rice series; he has the strong personality to pull off such a name. The girls are Laura and Samantha. Their names all fit them quite well.

I've never heard that one before, I know some who call their animals funny names. But your right imagine the look on the vet staff face when you give them the name.

I had a neighbor before who had three dogs, the name of the first one is "bark" and the other one is "bite" and the last one is "DON'T STOP". Whenever there would a stranger/s coming in or calling anyone inside from their gate the two dogs would obviously bark..Instead of commanding the two to stop barking, the master would shout "BARK, BiTE, DON'T STOP" com'on!!! LOL! That is a funny name. It appears that strays seemed to be named very odd and/or funny names. I know someone that took in a stray kitten. The kitten was very sick when he took it in, and he really didn't want a cat but the poor thing just kept following him around looking all pathetic, so he finally just gave in and adopted it. He called it "Little Sh1t" ... I think he didn't want to give it a "proper name" because he didn't want to get too attached in case the kitten didn't survive. The kitten got stronger and the name stuck, so we could hear him calling to the kitten "come here Little Sh1t" when it was outside and he wanted to bring it in!

even i have witnessed several times these kind of incidents, people do it since they love their cat invaluably and also take them out for a ride in the car and the names are even more funny like chickopop and tuffledude.they keep so that they can easily recollect it and always keep them close to their heart.so its a nice and funny way to keep names and i also love these kind of unique names even like daffodilians .it makes them take notice and they are so kind towards their cat which makes it even more good to see.these strange names always make me think about one particular name for my cat also.but these are good and always cynosure in a public stance and these also add a great deal of humour for it

It reminds me of that episode of, oh what was it? Some show, I think it was coach (but maybe not?) and this guy got a dog but couldn't think of a name. He kept calling out names but the dog wouldn't respond until he said "dam it (of course without the space and with an N in between) and the dog responded! I don't think I'd want to take that cat to the vet myself. I'd probably say we don't really have a name for it, it was a stray...

she had him for a long time, a couple of years so that was his name as far as she was concerned. It is hilarious though.

This is definately a discussion for me. you dont even want to get me started i love strange names and could likely talk all day about them. my boys ended up with ordinary names because of their dads but my girls have strange names. one my youngest most people have tried calling her everything else and cant get used to it. Jaely was named after a great grandmother and ive never found anyone else with that exact name. anyway, i usually named my cats strange names unless they were already used to a name. my dogs were already named when i got them. but my first siamese i named Demona, then i got a male siamese named cuddles and that just didnt seem right so i changed it to warlock, they had a kitten i named satan. i know sounds gorry, poor thing. maybe its why he didnt live long. i was very young then, a teen barely. so i learned my lesson about macabre names. after that, it was angelic names. anyway, dont want to bore you with more so thats all i will say this time.
