I've been hearing a lot of fuss about it and I actually signed up on the site long before. But I want to apologize in advance that until now and even if I read their TOS and guidelines over and over, I still cannot understand how people really compensate on the site.
So I am asking all the experts in Odesk or already working there to please teach me or give me some guidance how to start to work in Odesk. I want to maximize my time now in earning online after a month of hiatus and vacation from my computer. Anyone please!

The secret is to start with simple task with lower pay. That way you gain a lot of clients as you progress. Once you have established yourself as an excellent freelance service provider, other clients would even send you invitations or offers to do their jobs. Try article writing for $10.00 or less. Another thing is, answer the online tests and get excellent scores. Lastly, when sending an application write a good cover letter, selling your skills to the client, if you are writing blogs include the link on your cover letter, so they can also take a glimpse of how well you write.

I also register and see some pretty nice offer but I never tried to actually apply to them . I have heard a lot of good review about them so I will keep my account with them till I am ready to commit . I have a blog that take up most of my time and I want to get its rating up .

I am currently working full-time in Odesk. This is my advice if you are new to Odesk. The first thing that you need to do is to make your profile 100% complete. Focus first on making your profile attractive to employers. You can add work samples on your portfolio that can impress clients if they visit your profile. Next is to take skills test and aim to be at the top 10% of the test result. If you fail a skills test, you can make it private so that it will not show on your profile. If you have done all these things, you are now ready to apply for jobs. Hope that helps.

I am also registered in odesk but never tried to earn from them. As I observed the site has so many members and the competition is very healthy. This means that it is hard to get a successful bid from any task. I envy those who try and won a bid.

Among the most trusted and top class freelancing sites Odesk is one where new freelancers can start working and make money online. All you have to do is complete your profile as a first step. Write all your relevant skills in profile page and write it in an informative way that will attract the employers. List your key skills and also include your education and employment history. There are various skills test that you may take to show your skills in a relevant field. Once you have created a nice portfolio at Odesk, you will feel much comfortable applying for jobs, i.e., bidding on projects or jobs.
