Do you kill roaches by yourself?

Okay, I know this is gross. But I just heard my mom killing roaches in the bath with a broom. This broom would be made of coconut tree leaves(I think that is what they are called) in India and is used for cleaning bathrooms or to sweep the dry leaves off the ground.
I hate to use that on any insect for that matter. Oh, the roaches and the likes give me goosebumps. I would prefer using the spray to kill this kind of insects and pests. And would do it only if necessary. I am a scaredy cat when it comes to creepy crawlies and would scream my head off if I ever see one anywhere near me!
My husband would always make fun of me and my daughter(who would scream to wake up the whole building) by holding it in his hand. Arrrrggghhhhhhhh! So revolting to see it let alone touch it!
Coming back to my mom. She would hit it with the broom till the poor thing is in pieces with only part of its legs or wings on its body and stays motionless. I would prefer my victim intact. At least it would not be a mess on my floor! Please share your method.

I do it myself. I live in a house with some other girls who don't care if the house is disgusting, so I have to clean up everything, including killing any bugs that get in. It's not fair, but if I don't do it, no one will lol.

I used to run away earlier when I was not married and made my mom or dad do the dirty work. But after marriage, this has become my family and things are different. I do not have a husband always to take care of the bug for me and so I found out that spraying a roach repellant on it was better than any other way.

I will do it myself I don't know but having to face it many times at home make it seems that it can't make me feel scared anymore. It might give me a bit shock at first but I will grab anything near me that I could like slippers, books or papers or insect spray to get rid of them. If I can't get those thing and it's emergency I will just slap it!(^^)

If you just let it go it will come back again later with some other friends.(^^)
I can't stand watching them get away so I will get them as possible. Once I saw them they can't get away from me. I just don't want to see them again crawling here and there~(^^)

I kill roaches myself. What i do is i just tap them gently with a slipper or a shoe or anything. That way, they would feel groggy and i will just keep on doing that until they are out of their conciousness. I would never hit them hard because their insides will just come out. Yuck!!! Then i will throw them outside and put soil on top of them.

There are no rats in my house and the only snakes I would ever get to see are the ones in the zoo. So, my biggest fear is of the roaches.

Yeah, there were rats here in our house before. But after the ceiling and roof has been fixed, I don't see one anymore.

I could imagine your fear but not just with roaches. I am not afraid of them even when they fly around, but still, I would love to kill them
I could say that I am most afraid of rats (especially big black ones) and snakes. Just the thought of snakes slithering its way on the floor gives me goosebumps all over. I could not stand them at all! I'd die of heart attack if one gets near me! And just imagining the tiny legs of rats walking through my skin gives me the creepest creep! Ahaha! Eew.

When I was living with my brother I used to kill all the bugs, with my shoes or with the spray. It's gross and I was always scared while I was killing them, but I had no other option! One time I was with my ex boyfriend and a roach came through the window flying (until then I didn't know that they can fly!) and sat on a corner. My ex was more scared than I was and he wouldn't kill it so I had to do it while he was at the other side of the room giving orders!
In the place that I live now we don't have roaches, only small spiders but we spray outside the house very often and they don't come inside.

Those sprays aren't good to inhale and it's better to spray and then leave the windows open and don't use that room for a while. I spray before going to work and leave the inside window open so that the room takes some air! Especially if you have kids, I wouldn't recommend it when they are at home.

I do keep the windows and doors open when I spray, but still, it does not help. As I stay at home with my 11 month old kid, I would not be able to spray and leave it. But I use it only when I find one running around, that too only when I make sure my kids are not nearby.

I will always ask somebody else to kill it for me; but I can also step on it if I'm just alone and there's nobody else to do it (destroy it now before it hides away and multiply). Then of course there's always the gooey thing they left behind. I always have under my sink a spray bottle with a mixture of water, pinesol and bleach. I spray on the crime scene and mop it up.

What a brave soul you are! I would never ever step on it even by mistake. And as for the goey part, don't ask. I would rather have a clean shoe and floor.

i hate roaches and i am afraid of them too. If a roach is flying it would have to be my brothers or my mom that would kill it. I am in no way going near a roach ever... Haha i dont like that and its gross really to be trying to kill one. Yikes id have goosebumps all over.

I totally agree with you chiyosan. For me, if I am in my house, it is either my maid, husband or watchman who does that work. If I am at my mom's house, either my mom or my dad do it. But only rarely am I alone and have to struggle with this. But for my kids' sake, I do it now. But still with a spray.

Oh yes, same here I hate these little crawling pests and I feel I might get sick if I do touch them. I use to have a can of insect sprayer ready so every time I see one crawling or flying, I could grab the can and fires it to them, and boom, they're heading to their own grave.

Same here. A spray can is the best solution. Touching them even with slippers is out of question for me. It gives me the goosebumps.

I cockroaches also but I don't like the idea of "killing" them myself, I always call somebody else to kill them , and it's kinda weird in my personal opinion but that's the way it is for me, I don't like seeing the creature smashed and its whitish insides, pure gross for me :(

If you use the broom to kill the roaches, you may not have to put up with all those toxic chemical residue left on the floor , especially if you have pet/pets at home that may get sick from sniffing around those residue, another benefit is that you don't have to shell out too much money to buy those bug /roach killer in a matter of week to replace the empty spray can often, especially in this economy recession time, using broom stick is a lot more economical than using chemical spray, your mom is a naturally born sarvy businesswoman. hehehe.... Roaches is hyper productive species and have hyper active reproductive system, the female roach can produce baby in large number, usi spray may give you sometimes to stop their population explosion inside your house using broom stick may not be quick enough to be ahead of them since you have to kill one at a time only when they appear right in front of your eye, one of the disadvantage you have from using broom stick to kill roaches.

Oh, I would rather spend money on sprays than on brooms where I will get a heart attack trying to tackle a live roach which keeps running or flying here and there! I have often observed that if there is one, then in a few days you can see dozens running around. That is something I would hate to see in my house. Even one should not be left alive. Kill them all, kill them with spray. Not one should be alive to scare me.

I can kill it myself as long as it is not flying.
I can face ghosts but not a flying cockroach- goodness I don't know what's on this creature that made me run fast like a sprinter whenever I saw one flying.
but if it just crawling on floors- I am less scared although if there is someone to kill it, I would always prefer let someone crushed that thing.
I am not afraid of spiders, bugs ,lizards- but cockroach

We are all in the same category jaiho. Someone else to do the dirty work for us is fine. But when we have to do it, it is something which I would rather not do. And how these things run when they are being targetted! It gives me goosebumps just thinking of it!

I will kill them..with a straw broom. If not i will call a mother cat and she will kill.
Noo, my cat killed many roaches whenever it rains because at that time roaches goes out. She just play with them until they die..i remember one morning, i saw at least 10 roaches around in her room.

Oh good. You have a cat to help you out! Oh, I wish I had one so that I do not have to depend on other humans to do the dirty work for me.

When I was still assigned on a place near our home, I would spray an insect spray before we leave home. This way, we won't be able to inhale the chemical.

I used to swat them with slippers and then sweep it off the floor. But, now I simply use insect spray. They just fall off the next day. I think insect sprays work best on roaches than on other insects like mosquitoes.

actually i can not especially when they are flying above you,i will surely scream if it will happen, but sometimes i can kill them when they are not flying,if they only walking but not running okay, cockroach also hard to catch because they walk faster.
