I´m sure that I have told you all that after the good times on vacations comes the hard part of getting back into my normal overweight self. I went up 3 kilos in 2 weeks (my friend put on 6 kilos, but she is wonderfully slim so it suited her). So now, I´m on a diet. Reasonable, because I must eat my share of proteins always due to my lymphoma. But a greek salad can make your day. Instead of the cheese ladden with fat I love, I bought a light goat´s cheese. I eat lots of iceberg lettuce with boiled chicken breasts, diced goat cheese and black olives. I make my own dressing(vinegar, a bit of olive oil and a small amount of salt. I will add either some grated parmesan cheese or croutons as a gift when 2 of the said 3 kilos have gone. Do you put on weight on vacations? Do you do something about it when you are back? Or you behave on vactions and come back with the same weight? Share, friends. And, now that we talk about this, tell me of nice things with few calories to eat for a while.

I can't say that I am familiar with goat cheese, but I guess it must be good, or at least I hope so...I know it really depends on the kind of vacation I go on and the type of foods I eat whether I lose or gain weight. Whenever I traveled in Asia, I generally lost weight, but that is because I stayed away from the western foods that make me fat. Lately, I have not been eating very much but have still put on a lot of weight because of the water retention of heart failure. I just wish I could go back about six months and start al this over again and see if I could get off on the right foot for the year. I think I would settle now for that whole new body I have been asking for over the last year or two. I really need it! As far as eating, I don't know what to suggest. Right now I can't keep anything down. Have a great weekend!!!

I love the way you are always there to cheer me up! My brother does pretty much the same thing, but when he sends information, it is usually something he read and it was something that I already believed and I find it irritating since he hasn't "been there done that" but when you do it I know you really do understand. I just hope that I am able to overcome this whether it be through you and your friends or everyone else that is sending positive thoughts and prayers my way. Thanks for being a great friend!

Never forget that you were an inspiration to me in my worst moments last year, Deb. I´m so glad I can help you in any way. Last year you made THE difference for me. By the way, there´s a mylotter friend who says she read about lemon peel good to fight cancer. I don´t believe in any of that, but I love to grate lemon peel in cakes and I got the idea that it could also be used as toppings in salads. Who knows?

Hi maguicha, with dieting you can do exercise or jogging. At morning I do jogging regularly. I could make my weight normal. Moreover at night I only take noodles soup with vegetables.

My friend, you need not do much exercise. You can walk slowly. Walk at least for 40 minutes.

I am starting to walk more, friend, but I cannot do much exercise yet, friend. I was on chemo for the great part of last year and I´m still on a follow up treament. I´m thinking of getting one of those walkers where you walk and watch TV though. A member of my family has one.

I cannot yet walk that much, friend. I have been very ill and I´m not well yet. Cancer treatment was not a joke and it´s not finished yet.

I have planted lettuce and kale in my garden and will eat a lot of that every day. But I know we need some protein and a light cheese, eggs (not fried), light tuna and chicken are important. Check online the mediterranean diet. It takes a while to slim down, but it´s not so difficult.

I have never ate goat cheese or anything else prepared of milk produced by other animal than a cow. I don't know why. Probably mom gave me the thinking of how this all different milk smells specific and it's not so cool. Now I am thinking exactly the same thing about milks different than made of cow or about lamb meat also. On Christmas we were guests of one of our friends. Her mom made a bread with cheese inside. My first bite was having little strange taste. My friend knew I don't like cheese of goat milk sheep milk, that's why they all were very quiet. I have never met her mom before and her brother, this time we were on the same table. I touched my boyfriend very easy to show there is something, but couldn't say what ... because I didn't know how her mom will take it. But all saw what I did, so my friend said ... mom what cheese did you use? It doesn't taste like a cow cheese It was busted, felt little ashamed, but what could I do ... Eat all of the part I took from this bread and ate it. Gladly it didn't have that much cheese inside, just small part for taste When I am on a diet I always eat fibers mixed with milk yogurt and fruits inside - just one apple or half banana. It taste so good.

Sometimes it takes a while to get acostumed to new flavours. Goat cheese is stronger than other cheeses although it´s a lot milder than a blue cheese. When my children and grandchildren were small, I made a deal with them. I told them they had to try every new dish I made. If they didn´t like it, I´d give them something else. But each time they came over they would have a bit of a different dish, even if it was the same. They now eat all sorts of food. You can teach your taste buds

My weight never gain during vacations, it because I have lot of things to do, many places to visit, sometimes by walking. i do eat lot of yummy food in many places, but I burned them all while walking from one place to another. May be you should back to salad days to reduce some pounds, you can try some japanese salad, I watched them from Japan channel and they all looks delicious but can make you full.

I will cut back on eating, but I will have to learn how to walk again in a way. I was a whole year with not much energy during my chemotheraphy and only sat at the computer or watched TV from my bed. I could not go out without a mask and it wasn`t fun. Now I`m starting to wak to the super again.

That salad sounds really yummy! I usually gain a lb or two while I'm on vacation, and then I exercise extra when I get back. I try to resolve to eat healthy before i leave on vacations, but it never works out :P. I figure, it's a vacation! So let yourself go lol
