My dog is coughing every now and then. My vet is out-of-town. Is there any remedy for cough that you know? Please share...

we already did... she was diagnosed with kennel cough. she was confined and will be there for 7 days. she needs shots for antibiotics, cough suppresant and anti-inflammatory for lungs. I've search for it and it's like bronchitis for humans. I just hope she will recover sooner than 7 days...

You have to give your dog plenty of fluids, sometimes when they cough they usual dont like to eat, and sometimes they get fever too. Anyway, for cough you just mix honey in the water make your dog drink every 2 hours or as often as possible, although you will have to deal with a lot of pee! But this is what I give my dogs when they cough. mixture : 1 glass water + 2 table spoon honey...hope this helps and let me know if this works for your dog. it does with mine.

so sad to think, personally, i can't do it... i am working and my off is at 6:30pm yet. I can only have time during Saturdays. and on Saturday we can already get her back. Maybe that's all I can promise to her, I'll be with my mom when we fetch her from the clinic.
For now, it will only be my brother and my mom who can visit her there...

Hello, we had the same problem nearly a month ago. Our pup didn't have a cough, but was trying to swallow once in every few seconds and we notice there is something wrong. It was sleepy most of the time and we didn't know what to do. Next day we visited our vets and they gave us pills for fixing the problem. The puppy was having small temperature and blown tonsils.
We spent a week on antibiotic, two different types of pills. I have to give 1/4 portion of one of the two pills we had and half pill of the other for a week. We the pup got better very fast. Only two days on antibiotic and he started feeling much better, he started eating, also was playful and he stopped swallow all the time.
I am not sure if I have the names of the antibiotics he drunk, but your thing sounds little more serious, with the cough. If there is any infection in his respiratory, it must be found as soon as possible, because such things may cause permanent breathing problem.
Aren't there any other vets you can visit with your dog?

we found a new vet.
she was diagnosed with kennel cough. the vet said it is rampant nowadays with dogs. and pneumonia for cats. i just included to mention the cats because i saw one confined in his clinic.
our dog need also to be confined because she will be connected to a dextrose because they said dogs with kennel cough usually loses eating appetite. Her shots for antibiotics and expectorant will be given through the IV.
my mom got so worried because she loves her so much, and it makes her sad to think that she can't be with her for 7 days. but she has no choice. we need to confine tamtam because she had a history where she collapsed 4 years ago (and she also had a cough then). hope she will feel better sooner than 1 week so my mom can take her back home again.

Thank you for the advice. I am really counting the days until she gets well and we can already have her back. But the sad news is, our other dog Arn-arn has it too... It's really a BIG problem that we're going to face... The medication is expensive. huhuhuhuhu...

Yes, they do. They even get heat stroke... Tamtam experienced that (maybe because she has thick fur and she doesn't get enough exercise). She also collapsed years ago. That is why we got so worried about her when she had this kennel cough. and now we are worried with Arn-arn, our other dog because she is the one who got the cough now... Oh dear... :(
