In your opinion are rescue dogs just as good as a puppy from a litter?

I have three rescue dogs, each with there own personality and love to share with me. I have people every week ask me who i got my dogs from. I immediatly say that i got them from a rescue group. I also ask them if they would like me to get info on adoptable dogs from the rescue. Then they put me down by saying, we ather have a puppy from litter, or we prefer not to get a dog from a rescue. I dont unerstand if people are being descriminatory. My family would not let my rescue dogs in her house because she said she didnt trust them. One day i brought them to meet her dogs and they did more then great, playing together in the yard. I believe everydog deserves a second chance.

Both rescue dogs and puppies from a litter are just dogs. They are not different. It is true, dogs from a shelter can have behavior issues but they deserve a second chance and they can get rid of the problem if you properly take care of them. I don't see any reason why somebody would treat your dogs differently, just because they heard they are rescued dogs.

I so much wanted we to adopt one of the homeless dogs, but my boyfriend wanted a small breed, short fur, and also to take it when it's small one, instead of already grown up. I guess he just wanted to experience teaching the dog and building habits in it's character. For me it wasn't very important where we will take the dog from, the important was to be helpful for a one taken from the street, because we are having very bad problems with homeless dogs here. Finally when we made the decision we bought our Ike when he was nearly 3 months. And now he is nearly 7 months old. Didn't grow much for a pinscher. I am a big fan of adoption, but here we are having another problem. People doesn't want to get dogs without specific breed. As it is not a dog if it doesn't have own breed and type. Sad and stupid, but true.

Homeless dogs will always be a big issue in todays society. Its we the people who are the ones willing to make a change to make there lives better. No matter here the do comes from, as long as they have your love and trust then they will reward you with love and trust back. Dont forget that :) As for dogs with specific breeds, here we have that problem to, people get it n there head tat they want acertain dog but is that really there soul mate? A dog picks u is what i always say. When we went to the shelter they would let you react with the dogs and when u see a welcomig face from a dog hat comes up and looks into your eyes and says take me home then thats when you know,he or she is the one.Keep your good heart!

Yes the responsibility is at the hands of the people. Here they throw very small puppies when the female dog had them, because the dad is not from a breed. It is terrible when we try to fight with it, looks like the people will never learn to fix their dogs.

I usually prefer to rescue a dog somehow, either from a shelter or from some sort of rescue. I've had 3 dogs since I've been born and none of them have been from a breeder or pet store. My mom got the first dog before I was born and he was a little puppy that kept getting out of the yard and the people didn't care or do anything about it. He got out many times and the school my mom worked at was near a busy street and so she eventually decided to keep the puppy. He was a mutt but he was a great dog. Our next dog came from a pet rescue in a parking lot. We just happened to stop by and my mom fell in love with the dog and we adopted her. Our last dog the police gave to us because they found her and didn't want to bring her to animal control. She's a mini dachshund and our other dog is a mutt. All of them have had such great personalities and after having them, I think I'll always try to adopt animals from the humane society or some sort of rescue. It would be nice knowing I really helped out a dog and gave it a better chance at life.

Im so happy that thre are people out there that have the same care for helpless animals as i do :) And the best part about being that persn is the rewarding love you recieve from the animal.

Hi, I think that rescue dogs can be wonderful animals and I think its great for you to adopt them. Dogs can act really bad when they come from a litter too, not just rescue dogs. There isnt any reason to not trust them just because they are rescue dogs, if they did have behavioural problems that are untrustworthy im sure you would have told your family so i think this is quite rude.
