Friends' Requests on FB...

Hello my dear fellows... I just checked my FB account and found out that 27 wanted to be friends with me. I could accept 10, as I know those 10 people; they are school/college friends. A few of them are from my office. It is understandable that they'd want to join me on FB. But there remain 17 of whose identity, I'm not sure at all. I never knew any people with those names. They don't ring any bell. So I've not done anything and 17 pending ones still look at me with 'that' look... Does this happen to you? Of course if you're a beaty, you'd have unknown people requesting to be friends. But I am not! I'm not rich or handsome or a public servant. In short, there is no reason for a stranger to send me friends' request. Curious! I'm sure it happens to many of us. What do you do at such times?

Yes that's pretty normal. I was accepting all friends request before because I was a game addict on Facebook. But since I stopped playing games - I started not accepting request from people I don't know.

Hi EN.. Even if you were accepting all the requests, it'd have been good to understand the purpose of a stranger wanting to join you. FB's kind of a part of personal life these days. Please beware... Don't accept it blindly.. You sound kinda too innocent. Don't let anyone take advantage of it, my friend. I'm glad to read the last sentence in your post, that you don't do it anymore... :-) Take care!

Start with it asap EN... You're beautiful, so it is natural for guys to fall for you.. Just be careful with the maniacs, who start with love thing, the moment you accept them as friends.. FB's given us different access levels... Use those to protect yours pics. Take care...

actually I was thinking of deleting some of them one day as I am no longer playing FB games... I just couldn't find the time yet to do so. I know that there were some guys I don't know who's tryng to chat.. and even one calling me my love... One day for sure I will start deleting strangers on my list.

I always ignore those friend request that I didn't know. There were few who send message so with the request to let me know who they are coz in their account they didn't use their real names.

Thats great idea! Don't let a stranger take peek in your personal profiles or pictures. Besides, their motives can be very bad too... You're doin' the right thing... :-)

I have had (and still have) the most incredible people wanting to be my friends. The way FB works sounds like friends should go viral. You have a friend who has a friend who has a friend. FB wants to link all of us together, I wonder why. I don`t accept anyone but my best friends there just as I would not open the door of my house to anyone who was just passing by, even if it`s a neighbor.

The most accurate way, too! You've described and explained it fully. Yes, we don't open the door for a passer-by.. FB's become part of personal life for many of us. And that is why, we shouldn't allow strangers to take a peek into it. If you read some of the replies here, you'll find some people allow anyone to be a friend, blindly! Wonder, why they're not worried...

Yeah, it happened to me. I already set the privacy settings as to who can send me a request on FB. I allow friends of my friends to add me so sometimes I don't know who sent me request. You can set the privacy settings still if you don't want to receive request from unknown person.

There are also persons trying to add me even I don't know them. I just ignore them when I don't have mutual friends with them. However, when I found out that we have common friends, I just add them.

It happens to me. I really ignore those whom I don't know. Some uses aliases or other names so I check their photos if someone comes up familiar. I guess all of us experience the same..

Hi.. I do the same or a little less... I don't even check their profiles.. I just don't do anything... I let those requests stay there... We can't run the risk of letting strangers whose motives are totally unknown, invade our personal profiles... I agree with you... Thank you for sharing... Happy myLotting!

will let them look at you becouse if u add ppl from ur job i would becareful of that but the other ppl just keep them away if that send u a message and they dnt have pic will just let them be

I have never rejected any friendship request. This is mostly probably because I do not have anything personal in my Facebook account. So far, I have more than 1500 friends and I think I only know like 200.

Well, for me I have to know the person in real before we can be Facebook friends. Not being an anti-social here, just that I still follow the age-old lesson taught to me, of not talking to strangers. :)
