These days Soccer is also getting much popular in India after Cricket.
This year the Euro cup telecast on India has got a much higher trp than expected by experts. So do you think one day Soccer will overtake Cricket in terms of popularity in India?

Yes soccer is getting more popularity in India, I am also a soccer fan as well as Cricket fans.
But Soccer will never overtake Cricket in India, that's sure.
The popularity of Cricket will remain always over Soccer.

hello,
The popularity of soccer in India has not reached the levels of Cricket. Cricket is really the religion of people here in India. Its the most popular sport in our country. But soccer is also gaining popularity slowly. People here are interested in soccer very much. India does not have aworld class standard football team. Thats one of the main reason behind low popularity of this game in India. But still people in some part of the country are mad about Soccer. They watch all the important internation matches in TV all the time. Stars like Lionel Messi and Ronaldo are our hot favourites.

I think Soccer is just beginning to get popular in the country, but is quite some way off cricket. The problem for soccer in India is the poor standing of the Indian soccer team. In cricket we are always competing for the top honors and amongst the contenders for any title we go for. So that adds more passion and interest to the game. In the last 5-10 years we have been world champions in every format of the game in cricket, but in football we have still not qualified even at the Asian level!!
Cheers!

I think chances of soccer overtaking cricket in India are very very faint to be true. If at all anything like that happens, it will take a very long time. Infact I feel cricket is way ahead of any sports in India. No I am not supporting cricket, that is the fact and one has to live with it. Olympics games are coming up with their popularity banner but they only get attention at the time of Oymlpics or CWG. I think media is to be blamed for this. And also with cricket coming up with newer shorter crispier and nail biting versions like T 20 and IPL, it will be really tough for other games to come near to an stage where cricket has already reached.
