How Do You Deal With Such Calls?

From last 7 days I am getting regular phone calls on the land line and my cell phone regarding one or the other service or product from the agents of the related network service providers. Luckily, I received all those phone calls and politely refused the offered product and service giving the genuine reason for not needing the service. I know some people including my dad ( I understand the reason for his frustration, but still...) who get very irritated on such calls and give rude and harsh replies to the agents. How about you? How do you deal with such calls?

If I receive such calls, I tell the caller point blank that please do not disturb me again, as I've not asked you to call me. There are nuisance and disturb at odd hours and disturb our peace.

Oh ... Well, it is your perspective on how you deal with it, but I think we can be a little courteous to them.

The people calling you are telemarketers, whose job is to sell you services/products. They have certain targets to meet inorder to get paid. So they are not going to stop calling people. The way you avoid these type calls is by subscribing to DND(Do Not Disturb). Once you register for than, all promotional calls will stop after 7 days. And what you do is, politely refusing them.

I have this service activated on one of my cell phone, but not on the other, and I don't think there is a way to activate DND service on land line. I seriously don't mind attending such calls if the person calling would get paid for it.

I don't receive such calls or whatsoever, in our country, these kinds of business are not that usual. But in my case I will simple just answer that I don't the service. End of call. Just like that.

You are quite lucky to not receive such calls, but we receive such calls quite often. It's better to end the call just like that instead of saying harsh words to the agents because what they do is their duty.

I get plenty of such call. From insurance agent to bank staff trying to get me to sign up for a credit card. At times, I get calls from property agents asking if I am want to sell my place. My tactics is to tell them that I ain't interested in a firm way. If you show signs of hesitation, they will hoard you non-stop. And never never agree to meet them up. Cos once you do so, be prepare to receive calls from other insurance firms or banks soon. For some reasons, their database seems to be interlinked.

Luckily, I have never received any call from a credit card company. Lets see if I get repeated calls from the agents of the same service providers again. I think I would still like to be polite in my refusal because after all it is a source of their bread and butter.

Hi friend, i too got a lot of calls like this, i saved the number and don't attend the call, if it comes from the same number. Some times this kind of calls come from different numbers, i save all the numbers by suffixing 1,2,3 and don't attend calls from them. I don't have the patience to talk with this kind of Canvassing persons

hmm... nice idea! But what I have realized is that if you do not attend such calls, they keep trying again and again until you pick up the phone and reply to them. So, I prefer replying in the very first place itself.

Hi friend, I some times receive such calls. Well am very much interested in updating info in sim cards & call tariff . So i ask more than what they tell.. And apart from ma interest , i believe, their job is to telemarket their product. So insted of harsh reply , we can say " i am little busy right now i will get back to u later " . They are also humans. So we should respect them.. Thanks :)

Oh wow! We are very much alike in this manner. Even I believe we must be polite to them as they are also humans. I often think that before being rude to others (to anyone) we should place ourselves in their place and think how would we feel if anybody would treat us this way.

Hello I experienced this kind of call. At first sounds irritating but I try to control my temper and reject their offer in a nice way. I guess it's not good to give rude or harsh replies. Well, they're also human like us and they are just doing their job. I tried to refuse in a friendly and polite way.
